Good masking tape- when it works.

I've had some troubles with the Tamiya Masking Tape. When applied on directly, without modifying it at all, it holds well. But if you need to cut into it, to make more complex masked shapes, it seems to bleed a lot more often. Paint may seep through beneath it a bit. Never too much though, so a little cleanup is all that's needed after, but it's still a bit of a pain. You do get three rolls of the tape for this price (one in a reusable dispenser) so it's super good value either way.
Yes, you need 6mm tape for scale modeling!

If you need to lay down a fine edge then you need this tape. You can't just cut down 18mm tape and have the same results. The edges will not come out as clean. this tape is fantastic for detail work, and good detail work makes the model, if you know what I mean. You need this if you are serious about the hobby!

Just what I needed. I was finishing the build of a 1/32 scale Hasegawa Zero and thought I'd try a canopy mask. Went online and none were available, out of stock, ridiculous price, shipping or both. This tape is thin cuts easily and semi transparent so it's easy to follow where you need to cut. Great results.

I got this smaller size tape to have more 'bending' abilities while masking models for painting.
I don't like the dispenser one bit. It tends to come open easily. If you mount the tape the suggested way it sticks to the dispenser. When I'm not using the tape I store it in the suggested method but turn it around when I'm using it. The tape tends to stick to the dispenser and at times it can be difficult to grab.
The tape is okay, it is a bit expensive as well.
I'll not be replacing this tape as I use it up, I may keep a roll handy for different practices but the tape isn't a good fit for me.
