I own a number of similar products.
At work I was asked what I would recommend for our reception area.
Not only did I recommend this item, I also purchased one for myself.

It came well packaged and worked the moment that I plunged it in.

But as I worked with it I found some information that may be helpful to other customers. (And future versions of this product)

To get the AUTO PLAY to work you have to have it ready to run and then apply power (plug it in).
If you turn it on with the remote it brings up the main menu.

I didn't try music. But the player will only play pictures or videos. To change this set the auto play menu in setup.

As received the unit plays photos and videos in order by name. (There is a setting to do random, but not sure if it will remember this)
So I just renamed the photos and videos in the order that I wanted them to play.

When playing pictures the unit uses random wipes to transition the images. (I found it very smooth)
When playing videos the unit just start playing the next video.

For our application we have the sound off. When I tested it at home the sound played with the videos. And there is a volume control on the remote. But remember it only reduces the volume to the display device. So if the volume on the display / TV is set for zero you will not hear anything.

I also found that some audio tracks are a lot louder than other ones. (There are programs that will let you convert a video with cropping and volume adjustments. I even found one that would remove a background sound from the video of my daughters wedding. The exhaust fan was not running when I put the video camera in place.

There is one feature that I found missing (but there is a work around).

I have a camera that takes photos and videos.
When you play them back it plays them in order.
Photo, photo, photo, first frame of video. video, photo, photo, first frame of video, video, etc. ( this look great)
The work around is there are programs like Roxio Video Creator etc. That let you load in one photo and make a MP4 file out of it.
You just select the transition and length of the image, It can be also used to join sever images into one video.
Then you set the player for video playback.
Name your files so you have 01 image01.mp4, 02 image02.mp4, 03 video01.mp4, etc.

Another trick is to play a Power Point Presentation just save it as a Windows Media Video (*.wmv) file.

I would recommend this product again.

In recent months I have purchased 4 different products to try make my old laptop (no HDMI output) to show my over 100 hours of "Armchair Travels" DVDs that I have created. Instead lugging my DVD player to each center, because of continuing scratches on the DVDs, or other playing problems, I had to look for other options. I felt I needed to play the VOB files via USB thumb drive or portable hard drive on various TVs in a dozen different senior centers. But, until now, each adaptor I bought had problems, or design deficiencies, and they required constant fiddling with the laptop settings from one TV to another. Intolerable.

FINALLY, I found this product that does everything I needed via output of either HDMI, component, or analog outputs for the TVs with only the red-white-yellow jacks. VOB is only one of many video and photo format inputs it will recognize and play. AND, I don't even need to use my laptop anymore! AND it gives options to fill the screen, something I could not control before! Its remote control is like running a usual DVD player. AND, it even controls the output volume! The whole assembly to play my VOBs fits in a pocket of an old-fashioned zippered notebook. Imagine carrying all 100+ DVDs with me to every senior center instead of my now tiny 1-TB portable hard drive. All the options included on this little device make it a terrific product for such a good price.

Customer Service was superb and very quick to respond to all my questions. You must try this product. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

this plays file pretty good, but I gave 4 stars because rca cable would not work you got file picture or what ever but the sound didn't come through. hdlm cable hook up works good. nice and fast playing mp4,mv4 these are the only ones I have,but picture and music plays find.
on video the fastforward works real good but be aware that unlike other players you don't have time showing minute or seconds at first I was kind of thinking this would be annoying because I have 6hrs recordings, but appearently it keeps track where you are and give you option too continue or restart programs which I thought was good. it's starts up fast no down time and so far i'm impressed with it I only hope they fix rca hook up, because I originally got it for my old tv. but now I have too run it through my new tv. haven't tested the vga hook up .

i bought this product to show pictures on an old lcd i have hanging in my family room that i used to have an old pc hooked up to for the purpose of showing pictures. the pc hardrive died which was still running xp. also it was running off and old vga cable i ran through the wall. i was looking for a cheap alternative and this works perfectly. there where reviews here saying the vga didn't work. that when you plugged it in you got a red screen and the picture was messed up. well initially this is exactly what happened to me. i was about to send it back when decided to hook it up to one of my hd tv's via the hdmi connection. i though maybe there was a setting wrong.it worked great on the hd tv and after examining the remote there is a vga button on it. i thought no way was it going to be this easy but it was. the initial settings in the box is to auto connect to hdmi pressing the vga button on the remote sends the signal to the vga output. it was that simple.

This Media File Player is really great! However, keep in mind that I was pretty disappointed when I first played a 1080p MP4 Movie on this media player right out of the box, because the picture was pretty terrible compared to my other devices and Laptops connected to a TV. It was unwatchable for what the quality should be. I immediately thought about returning it. But I'm glad I didn't, because then I hit the "Menu" button and changed the video output to 1080p-60hz (60fps), and now it looks phenomenal! Unfortunately, it's not set to 1080p by default, but that's a simple fix with a few clicks of the remote.Now it looks much better than my media Laptop, connected to the same 1080p TV, and comparing the same scenes. I also got this particular device because it has DTS and Dolby Surround Sound Decoders, which most cheap media file players do not. Another thing that is cool about this file player is that it loads giant MKV files very quickly, in a few seconds! It has VGA connection too, which most HDTVs have on the back. So if the HDMI goes bad one day, you can still use this player with a VGA cable. It looks about the same quality. I can't tell any obvious differences from the VGA and the HDMI connections. Both are enjoyable. My friend's wife got one of these too and she says she likes it because it doesn't have the Cinavia copy protection, for those who like to back up their BluRay Discs onto MP4 or MKV files. Otherwise, she says her kids will destroy her expensive BluRay Discs in no time! Whomever came up with the Disc idea didn't intend it for children... haha! This one is worth the extra $8 compared to the run of the mill $30 Media File Player, because it has DTS+Dolby which is everything for true home theater pleasure! Well worth the money! Put a few minutes into the video/picture setup and you're golden!
