Mediocre sound. Mind-numbingly awful controls - especially at 6am!

I returned this clock for two reasons. The sound was mediocre. It was kind of hollow and distant. Coming from an older Boston Acoustics clock that I'd used for at least a decade (it had reached the end of it's life), I was disappointed. I could have lived with the sound, but the controls were far too complex to manage at bleary-eyed early morning moments, or during late night alarm-setting. You need to click through layers of settings just to set the alarm time and radio station. It's a process if you want to change your wake-up time. There are no simple +/- buttons to change the hour and minute settings. There is also no simple on/off to activate the alarm. I gave the device a good try but just couldn't come to trust it. I'm giving it two stars, but, frankly that's a bit generous.
Very nice sound, hard to find better.

Love this alarm clock. The only issue or main issue is accidently setting the alarm then trying to figure how to turn it off!!!! Press the alarm button twice usually does the trick or hold the alarm button then press it again. Hopefully I saved someone else the headache it gave me trying to figure it out or hopefully they updated the manual. My spouse and I are audio geeks and this isn't as great as a sound room but it's by far the best sounding music I could find on an alarm clock. Love it for Bluetooth and my favorite tunes. You will want to use the option to dim the digital clock. Hope this helps!
Sound and Style and Size

I needed a smaller alarm clock with FM radio for my bedside table and this exceeded my expectations in every way. Modern and sleek design for a radio alarm clock, a small footprint, very good sound with clear FM radio reception; this unit has so much to like. And, for folks that read their Amazon Kindles in bed, you can use the USB charging port on the back of the unit to charge your Kindle.

For a device that is essentially 5 inches wide by 5 inches tall the sound is really very good. But what unexpectedly made me glad I purchased the Soundfreaq is the fact that it is 5 inches tall and this put the time readout at my eye level when I wake up in the night and look at the time. I now see the time easily. I wasn't expecting this or even thinking about the ease of time readability, but now that I see this I see what a benefit it is.
Good replacement for my age old clock radio

I had a dual alarm, battery backup, Panasonic clock radio for 22 years. This is the replacement. The old one finally gave out. So as I was searching for a simple one, with similar features, I came across this one. Dual alarm. Can wake with radio or Bluetooth music. Setup is pretty straight forward with intuitive controls. What really surprised me is the high audio quality from the speaker, but also the low distortion at medium and high volumes. I like that I can use this radio over Bluetooth to play music in my room. I also like the fact that you can set the volume of each alarm when it comes on. My old one had a manual dial. Partners, covers, random invisible gnomes, could all magically just turn the dial up or down when you're not expecting/looking and cause you to miss an alarm. That is impossible with this device unless they set it specifically to do something different. It may take a few mornings to get to the desired perfect volume for waking up, but afterwards, it's pretty much set it and forget it (until you need it.) For the price, this device packs a lot of value, and features. I would recommend it to anyone.
Decent product, average sound, poor UI

Two points:

1) Previously had an iHome iD91BZC clock radio, which had truly great sound for a clock radio with its 4 built-in stereo speakers. Contrary to some reviews, the sound quality of the Sound Rise is merely average. (iHome's fatal flaw: bought two, display didn't work in either.)

2) The user interface lacks intuitive design in some ways, which when combined with misleading instructions or omitted information can be royal pain in the ***. For example, it took me 20 minutes of fiddling and Googling just to figure out how to cancel the alarm. (Don't press the alarm button "until the icon is not shown," but rather press it twice. Sounds simple, but not obvious in practice.) Another flaw is that you cannot program the radio presets if you have the radio tuned to a station that's already preset! This took another 10 minutes to figure out. A consumer product shouldn't feel like an intelligence test to figure out how to use it.

Acceptable product otherwise: looks decent, display is readable, Bluetooth works, gradual wake to music is very nice.
