Mediabridge Banana Plugs - Corrosion-Resistant 24K Gold-Plated Connectors - (12 Pair) - Solderless Termination of Speaker Wire

Key features
- •Includes 12 pairs of banana plugs, which are meant for attaching to speaker wire and supplying a high-quality signal path from audio components like a speaker to an audio/video receiver, amplifier or other professional sound application.
- •Compatible with bare wire, spades, or other banana plugs, and work with 8-18 AWG speaker wire. Connectors & crimping teeth are coated in corrosion-resistant 24K gold-plating for lasting, for secure fits with clarity, natural sonic accuracy and no distortion. A wider base minimizes shorting for maximum signal transfer, and a 2-piece screw-on design makes for reliable termination/reuse.
- •Simply connect existing speaker wires to a banana plug through its bottom piece (step-by-step installation guide included). Self-crimping teeth make for easy one-time installs, and a low profile build only sticks out 1.
- •The heavy-duty plugs are color coded, distinguishing left from right to enable matching polarity. Fast-lock is a great plug-and-play alternative to using bare wire when connecting devices, taking away the hassle of crimping or soldering.
- •Each plug has a female banana plug connector on the bottom, allowing you to hook up speakers to a single output.

Very Solid well made product

You will immediately be impressed by the weight and build of these banana plugs. They are extremely easy to use. No little screws to tighten, just bend back the copper strands and screw the top on. The insertion ends are the correct length also. Would recommend, would (and probably will) buy again.
Exactly Right!

I originally ordered the Amazon Basics banana plugs but had to send them back. They were slightly less expensive than these Media Bridge plugs, but the Amazon Basics plugs didn't fit well at all with my Paradigm speaker sockets. They were extremely loose I'm my speaker sockets. My guess is that the Amazon Basics plugs are 3.5 mm whereas these Media Bridge plugs are the full standard 4 mm. If you closely study the pictures of the two brands of plugs you can see the difference in the bayoneted design. The Media Bridge plugs are a very secure fit for my speakers and I suspect the majority of you readers out there too. I like the compact design (only about an inch long) and the wire crimping mechanism (screw on) is just as secure as the set screw types of plugs if done right. I would recommend these speaker plugs to others.
Easy to mount, somewhat insulated

I ran out of high end BLue Jeans Cable gold plated banana plugs as I was setting up a new audio system. I had a quick look on Amazon to find the best plugs I could get quickly, and found this very reasonably priced set that was well reviewed.
What I liked:
- The tail end of the plug is very wide, and allows the insulation to fit in it. As a result, you don't have to strip as much insulation to use this banana plug: about1/2" is enough
- there is quite a bit of space between the inside pipe and the outside screw thread, so that you don't have to be extremely precise in how much of the cable copper you fold over the inside pipe, before you can screw the outside back on: in that sense it is less sensitive than the Blue Jeans Cable banana plugs.
- the widest part of the plug is rubber coated, so that there is less risk to cause a short
What I didn't like:
- The tail end of the plug is so wide that, in order to properly size the insulation right where it leaves the plug, you need to wrap around some extra electrical tape (if possible matching the color of the terminal) , so that the tail end of the cable is not free to move too much in the plug. This makes for some more work, and you must be quite careful in the electrical tape build-up to make it look neat and well finished
- since the rubber coating only covers the middle, fattest section, it is still possible to cause a short if you accidentally touch the front or the end of a plug to a nearby plug. On the other hand, the Blue Jeans Cables banana plugs come with heatshrink that covers the whole outside area
- it does not feel quite as hefty and well made as the Blue Jeans Cable banana plugs, which are gold-coated solid copper
In the end, it is a fair value in my opinion. These banana plugs cost about $1 per piece, when the Blue Jeans Cable banana plugs cost between $2.5 and $4 per piece. They represent good quality at a very fair price. If you want better (and are willing to wait a little longer), you will have to pay 250% to 400% more with the admittedly higher end banana plugs from Blue Jeans Cable. For a permanent, high end, installation, I would still recommend BLue Jean Cable banana plugs, but these are quite decent and will do the job when you need some plugs quickly.

There are already about a thousand reviews on these banana plugs, so at this point, the fact that you're reading this review is sorta inconsequential. I felt compelled to write the review because these are totally worth the price i paid. They are well designed and well constructed. The first thing that i thought when i pulled one of these plugs out of the box was.. "Wow, this is heavy for its size." These are well made, work like a charm and have a low profile, which you might not consider when buying banana plugs. The shorter the better, because if you have you equipment close to a wall or other structure, you want a "stubby" banana plug. I actually hesitated to buy these, as the Amazon Basics plugs were a couple of dollars less (check out the distribution of star ratings on the Amazon Basics banana plugs). Don't skimp here. The effort to pull your equipment out, wire up the banana plugs and reposition everything, is a pain. Using inferior plugs could have you revisiting your equipment much sooner than anticipated.
I always look at the distribution of star ratings. Anything around or below a 10% 1 Star rating is probably a good product. These bad boys have a 1 star percentage of 0%. Check out the distribution of the star ratings on these. This many people are not wrong. Hats off to MediaBridge by the way, because as simple and straight forward as banana plugs can be, there are always missteps and badly designed products. You can tell that the product manager on this was thoughtful and had very good attention to detail. Packaging was also awesome. Highly recommended.
I love products that are designed by subject matter experts. You can tell that these were designed by such a person.
