I love the color of the cabinet. It flows well with what I have going on in my office. The construction was straightforward and not difficult at all. Some of the parts were mislabeled, specifically the dowels but if you have any sense, you would realize that and adjust. The unit is very solid but I always use gorilla glue to add to that. The drawers pull out very smooth and have a soft close and a click. You cannot open both drawers at the same time because of this, one must be fully in for the other to be pulled out.

Aesthetically, I give it a 5 star rating all the way.
The only reason I gave it a 4 star rating is because the drawers were a pain in the ass to put in. Once everything is assembled, you kind of have to jimmy it in for the drawers to set--also the bottom one goes in first then the top. Also, the bottom of the drawers are not cut to length meaning that with every drawer, there is a bottom board that slides into grooves. you then install the backboard piece of a drawer along with a support piece of wood on the bottom. well that bottom board is longer than normal and forces one to squeeze the sides hard so that the dowel's and locking mechanisms sit as flush as possible. I probalby could have described this better but anyone who has ever assembled a sliding drawer gets what I am talking about.

Photos are to illustrate the color. That is an oxblood color office chair.

I purchased this item when it was 212 and then the price drops.....lucky me.
Good finished product, but not a quick and easy assembly
Richard Pattie✓ Verified PurchaseJune 15, 2017
The finished file cabinet is good-looking and sturdy. I am happy with it. However, it is not easy to assemble. I am a man with above average mechanical skills, used to working on cars and other mechanical objects, and this project turned out to be much more than I expected. There are many parts and fasteners which are usually well-labeled, but care should be taken to identify the labeling as some parts look like others but with slight differences.

The instructions are Ikea-like, heavy on illustration, light on explanation. Overall the manual is decent, but some drawings do not quite match the finished step (this was especially frustrating). In the Helpful Hints section it references instructional videos online, but there are none.

You won't be able to put this together while sitting on the floor! You will need a workbench or table. I put a towel on my dining room table and used that. There is a lot of screwing with Phillips-head screwdrivers. Some screw holes were not drilled out enough, and I ended up drilling them out further with an electric drill or I could not have gotten the screws in. If you're not familiar with cam-locks pay careful attention to their description, explanation and use.

My final caution: be prepared for a fairly substantial project.
Excellent desk for the money

For the price there's no way I could give this executive desk anything but a 5 star review. Every piece/part was labeled (numbered), and the hardware came in separate zip loc bags which were also numbered. Instructions were very clear. Assembly was a snap (
I just bought a new house and needed furniture for my home office. Have had trouble deciding on what exactly to buy, as nice office furniture is expensive, so once purchased I need to live with it for a long time. Caught in indecision, I ran across these pieces. Even if they last me a year or two, I've gotten way more than my money's worth.

We'll see how they age, but so far, I'm extremely happy with my purchase!
Elegant, RTFM!

So far so good. I assembled this before the rest of the desk set comes in... just to get my bearings as to the amount of work it will take.

There are TWO types of the tightening lag-bolts; don't be a dope like me and waste a half-hour disassembling the top to get them out when you realize you don't have enough of the smaller ones for the drawers, lol.

Looks good, solid construction. The veneer is pretty thick, much thicker than I've seen in the past for similar products.
Shoddy workmanship and poor customer service. A lot of effort for a nice piece in the end

This is a decent desk for the money.
Cons:
1) Edge of desk where you sit has paper contact surface (gray) peeling off on the edge.We are using tape to keep it on. Just not well made
2) Our first unit arrived with a baseball sized hole in the top middle of the desk. They could not replace that part and it took 9 weeks to get it resolved. That is a looooong time to do without a needed desk and to hold onto all the large pieces and the packaging. We eventually settled on a new desk. Because we bought our original as part of a set, they wanted us to unassemble and return all pieces. Trust me that was an expensive undertaking and very time consuming and frustrating as a proposition.
3) Customer service is about a 45 minute hold time to reach
4) the hardware bag was missing
5) the screw holes were drilled in the wrong place; required us to redrill

Pros: Once together it is a nice functional piece

If you are willing to tolerate BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE and LOTS OF FRUSTRATION you should end up with a decent, functional piece. But what a pain to get there.
