I have a JBJ 28G nano with a metal halide + actinic lights. I am running an SPS tank so I run my metal halides AT LEAST 6 hours and the actinics even longer. My tank was starting to hit 86F when I finally broke down and decided to get a chiller. Most chillers use a compressor of some type and are absolutely massive. I just didn't need something that huge. All I wanted was a chiller that would bring it down to 83F or lower bare minimum.

When I received this unit I set it up right away and was worried because it really didn't bring the temperature down much. But overnight as the chiller broke in and the lights weren't on anymore the chiller was able to bring the temp down to where I set it at 77F. When the lights kicked in the next morning, the chiller was mostly able to keep up. By the time my lights shut off at the end of the day the temperature was at 79.5F

Even better than I was hoping for. This chiller was able to bring my 28G tank down 6.5 degrees fahrenheit. For the record the instructions say a 30G tank will come down 2-4 degrees F. So this chiller over-performed from where I thought it would. Which is a MAJOR relief because I do not have a lot of space for 'gear'. So the compact size of this chiller is appreciated. If you have a small 30G nano tank or smaller and need a chiller. This one does just enough to be effective.
Still keeping Jellies happy

Been working great on my jelly fish tank for 5 months now. No problems, it's silent - I have to check the lights to make sure it's on!

Thought would work better but does a good job.
It works very well with nano reef tanks (up to 30 gallons)

I installed the CSXC-1 Nano Chiller and has been running in my Innovative Marine 10 gallon reef tank for 3 days now. I'm pleased with it. My tank was reaching 30C. I set it at 28C the first day and now 27C. The chiller has no problem maintaining the temp at the desired setting. It adjusts the fan speed according to the need during the day and stops by itself at night when room temp is lower and cooling is not needed.

Notice that this is not for a large tank. This will work fine in nano tanks (up to 30 gallon according to the manufacturer) and in applications where you only need to the temp a little bit.

Easy to set up too. I purchased their optional U-bend tubes and ended up having to cut one of them in order for it to fit better into the return elbow. It is connected in-line with my return pump, which is an Aqueon Quietflow 400.

The unit gets a little hot during the day and I can hear the fan when running (in my case most of the day). You can't place the chiller inside a cabinet, it needs to be in an open area so that it can cool down properly.

What could be improved (these are not showstoppers -- just suggestions to keep improving)? 1. The temp adjustment knob: I think that it would be great if it had a way to lock it in the desired temperature. It is too easy for someone to move it unintentionally, causing your tank to get to the wrong temperature; 2. They sell an optional wall mounting kit -- I think that the unit could easily come ready for wall mounting -- you are already paying a good amount of money for it; 3. The temperatures marked on the adjustment knob are a little off. You still have to rely on your good old thermometer to know for sure what is the target temperature. I then marked the unit with a permanent marker or post-it tab at the desired position.
