Love the remote. But what really matters is the way it cools and how smooth the motor startup is. Ii have only had it for a week, so I don't know how well it lasts, but for now it is great.

I live in New Mexico in a double-wide that is 1400 square feet and this cooler keeps it nice and cool even on the hottest days, I usually run it on low or it freezes us out. It takes my house from the mid 90's down-to the mid-70's. For hot dry climate I would take this over AC any day as it cost of fraction of the electricity to run. I like that this cooler comes with the motor, pulleys and belt already installed. The only thing I had to put together was the float ( it came with) and putting that on only took 2 minutes. I was able to have this installed through a window and have it running in about one and a half hours which includes hooking up the water line. It also comes with hooks chains and braces for mounting however I did not use them as I built a stand. I also like that at the end of the season I can easily take this back out of the window and put it away in the shed. The remote control works easily and is like a TV controller that you need to have Within line-of-sight to operate. I bought mine at Home Depot on sale for $509.
