We really liked it at first

So it's been a year since I got this for my husband. We really liked it at first, being newbies to mead making. But today I noticed a strange smell coming from my basement. Went down, checked around and our very first gallon of homemade mead is all over the shelves and floor. I would recommend investing a little more money into better quality equipment unless you want to literally mop up a year's worth of time and money off your floor.

This kit was perfect for making single gallon batch meads. Everything we needed was included and came in beautiful condition. We are ready to start making some delicious mead to drink when summer comes back around!

This product was an utter disappointment. Imagine my surprise to purchase a kit for a Christmas gift that includes "everything you need to make mead" only to discover that is far from the truth. Everything you need? Not by a long shot! The instructions included listed multiple things (including a fermenting barrel) that were not included in this kit - which is now virtually useless. The person who received the kit was all ready to open it up and start the mead-making process only to be incredibly let down. I now have to search out and purchase another kit (which actually includes everything needed) to make up for this fail of a Christmas gift.

I'm a first timer. The ad says "everything you need to make mead". But the instructions contain a whole lot of other items not included. This is basically a gallon jug, cork, 3 piece airlock, yeast nutrient and yeast. The instructions do not apply to just these items. They call for an additional primary fermenting bucket, auto siphon, 4 feet of beverage tubing, flow control tubing clamp, campden tablets, adhesive thermometer, and hydrometer. I don't know what the heck to do with just a jug and some yeast..
