This stuff is definitely thicker than the white teflon tapes.

I was able to use this product at age 66 years of age with ease wrapped around the screwed-on threaded area of a new shower head I purchased from Amazon. I needed no tools but my hands. It worked great and did not leak at all. This is one of the best thread sealers I have ever purchased. I highly recommend it to everyone who needs it.
