Best bag for the money
Bryan H.✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 10, 2017
This thing isn't huge and solid. I've destroyed so many range bags and this one might outlive me. It holds so much stuff it's ridiculous. Four AR15 size magazine holders, seven pistol mag holders, two separate and removable pistol sleeves. Everything has a monster zipper on it and appears lockable. The bag really holds it's shape under extreme weight. I've packed three pistols, a keltec sub2000, six 10/22 bx25 magazines, 5 32 round Glock mags, seven double stack mags, four AR mags, 120 5.56, 100+ 9mm,100+ .45acp, 100 .357 revolver rounds, several 6" splatter targets, eyes and ears. Still plenty of room to ruin your back with other nonsense. I usually keep it lighter, but it's survived weekly range sessions and looks brand new.
Almost perfect!

No range bag is perfect - there's always something you wish were a little different. But this one is the best I found at a decent price range, and it actually exceeded my expectations. It's well-constructed with heavy duty zippers that glide effortlessly.
I packed 6 pistols, 400 rounds of ammo, 13 magazines, a large mat, targets, staple gun, hearing protection, eye protection, and a few other miscellaneous items. Everything fit with ease.
The two padded pistol pouches, which I didn't think I would need, are actually more useful than I expected - they fit nicely in the magazine compartments along with several magazines in the pockets.
One half star deducted (if it were possible) for the following: 1) The shoulder strap cannot be removed, and 2) The main compartment dividers are too long to be used vertically as in the picture on Amazon.
Best Range Bag

This is my favorite range bag. I really like the Explore brand so I won't cover the quality because it is far and away the best out there. heavy denier nylon weave fabric and awesome metal zippers that flow and never bind, I am pretty sure these are YKK brand and lockable. Looking at some of the reviews I checked it out as soon as it arrived. The bag comes with two long dividers that will fit lengthwise inside the main compartment, these will also roll and Velcro attach in a tube shape to hold cleaning supplies and liquids which is fantastic. That might be the confusion regarding the pictures showing a sideways divider. the bag also comes with a very solid bottom insert that provides a puncture proof bottom and lets the nylon feet keep the bag above the ground. I do wish that the feet on the bottom were a little taller though. Before I put in the bottom insert I decided to check it thinking that it might have sharp corners that would wear through the bag. however feeling around the heavy nylon cover I found that Explorer has thought to round off the corners enough to eliminate that problem. The bag also comes with two thick padded removable pouches with the same high quality fabric and zippers as the main bag. These two bags are just a bit smaller than the front and rear outside pockets and fit perfectly inside and attach by velcro at the bottom for easy removal. The front pouch has sewn in pistol magazine holders and the rear has AK or AR size magazine holders. It holds everything I need for bench rest shooting including ear protection and enough ammo for all day with room for a pistol or two in the side pockets. It would hold more but I wouldn't want to carry it very far
Really a very nice, very well thought out range bag. Great for 2 pistols, head gear, glasses, and all the ammo, you can carry.

What a great bag! It's made of 600 denier nylon, which is very substantial. This seems to be the industry standard but I can tell you that the bag I purchased at Wally world fell apart under the load of 2 handguns and 400 rounds of ammo. The bag literally tore apart at the seems. I looked at a lot of bags. It was between this one and the blackhawk. I ultimately chose this one because it appeared to have a little more room and I loved the individual gun pouches and all of the magazine holders. I am not a LEO or Military, so I don't need the ability to add-on gear, so this may be a deciding factor for you to go one way or another. All in all, I feel this is the perfect bag for my purposes. 2 pistols and lots of ammo, 8 x 11 targets, ear protection, eye protection, up to 10 magazines and still room for more. Some have complained about the shoulder strap not fitting over their head. I've not needed to use it over my head, but I will say that it is fully adjustable and I could easily get it over my head if need be. I also like the padding. Makes it easy to hold while waiting in line at the range. Oh, and the color. I chose the green because ranges are dirty. I didn't want something that would show dust so easily. Black bags are difficult to keep clean looking. This bag looks new even after a day at the range.
Pros: Heavy nylon up to the task, good color selection, roomy, durable, all sides, top and bottom are padded, all compartments are lockable, lots of separate storage spaces, well padded pistol compartments, nice, unassuming looking bag.
Cons: They could have made the top compartment zipper open with a dual pull (like blackhawk uses) to eliminate the need to always un-wrap the velcro on the handles over that compartment. This is a small issue.
I've seen mixed but mostly good reviews about this bag

I've seen mixed but mostly good reviews about this bag, which is why I bought it. I agree the feet are a tad thin, not much point in having feet if the rest of the bag sits on the ground. But they do no harm. It's a big bag, very solid and well built. The non-removability of the shoulder strap is a small inconvenience, but it is simple and lighter without the metal snaps which would be needed to make it removable. The bag came in black, in perfect condition, with two removable pistol sleeves which each had 3 closed sides and zipper on fourth (top) side so pistols can't fall out. These are great because you can put the bag on the reloading bench at the range, and remove the two pistol sleeves with guns inside and carry them to the shooting lane without taking the whole bag.The sleeves velcro into the fully zippered front and back pockets. These pockets have 3 of 4 sides zippered so the outer sides fold down and completely open. The top flap is zippered 3/4 of the way round so you can peel it back for full access to the center storage. The center storage has 2 removable padded velcro'd dividers. This week I took the bag to the range for the first time. I had 2 sets of ear protectors, 2 sets of safety glasses, a protective face mask, 6 boxes of ammo, a speed loader, a plastic box for saved brass and a pair of gloves in the center sections, and there's room for small paper targets. I had 2 rolls of tape, 2 tubes with ear plugs and Q tips, 6 spare metal office clips for targets, and a rag in an end pocket; and there was a sub compact handgun in the other end pocket. The two side pockets (which house the two removable pistol sleeves) also have vertical pouches for magazines. One pocket has 7 small pouches, the other pocket has 4 large ones. I used the smaller ones for 2 pens, a second small speed loader, scissors, a screwdriver and 3 x .380 spare magazines. I carried 3 pistols in all, and after this lot I had plenty of room for more. The bag bottom is reinforced with a removable board and is thus stiffened. One of the end pockets has an additional zipper pocket on the end, I don't get why the zipper is vertical, but that's a small issue, but I did worry if I left it unzipped stuff would fall out. No big thing. The bag is a little heavy because it is well made and padded well, when it is 2/3 full it is getting up there! I wouldn't want to lift it full. It works great for me, everything goes in. I reckon this would make a good bug out bag for anyone travelling light, a couple of guns and ammo and a cleaning kit and a change of clothes, a bit of food and water bottle inside. There's no exterior water bottle pocket or strap, but I've seen these sold separately at sporting goods stores. For me, no more struggling with a bag which is too small and won't close and carrying two separate pistol cases under my arm, and can't open the door! I love this bag !!
