Hard to spin and flawed design. A sideways barrel is better.
ChrisOctober 11, 2017
I got this since it was the only one that fit in the small place where I needed it. Don't think it is really 60 gallons. The design makes it very difficult to spin when about half full since there is so much weight in the bottom. There is also a chance that liquid flies on your cloth and face when spinning since it flips over quite quickly. The quality does not seem very sturdy for the high price. The lid can open when spinning, I screwed one end shut to make sure its stays which solved the problem. The closing mechanism is not well thought through and it can be difficult to close when dirty or cold. A barrel that coins sideways will work much better.
Easy to use

We took a chance and bought this beginning of this spring. It's worked perfectly! Easy to use. Easy to spin. Instructions were HORRIBLE. Putting it together was not good. Fortunately, hubby is very handy and put it all together in spite of the instructions. Once it was together, it has been perfect!

This worked great..

This worked great... until the side of the composter by the axle broke after ~ 1 year of use. Now looking for a durable composter.
Seems good but had small defect

First of all, I received and assembled the Spinbin only yesterday, so this review will not address longevity & how the bin functions under use. I do have a Tumbleweed composter (essentially same design) that has been in use six months or so - the Spinbin was purchased so we could add to one tumbler while the compost in the other was finishing.

Pros to the Spinbin:
-compact for shipping
-recycled plastic
-thermometer ports
-less expensive than Tumbleweed
Unknown pro/con:
-the double bar in center
Cons to the Spinbin:
-plastic feels less robust than Tumbleweed
-lids much harder to turn ditto
-lid latch parts much smaller ditto

Finally, the unit I received had a minor but annoying manufacturing defect on all four quadrants: one of the slots where the lid latch slides in still had the plastic in it, so the latch couldn't slide in. I was able to punch out the plastic along there on each of the four quadrants with a small file (tight fit/fiddly location so it took a while to find the right tool), but it's a bit jagged looking now and doesn't slide as smoothly as it could.

So, half a star off for the cons above, one star off for the manufacturing defect. Hoping that in use those things fade into the background, as overall it still looks like a good design and it saves materials for items to only be built as robustly as they need to be - so half a star back up for that. If it fails us in the months ahead, I will come back and amend this review!
