Fantastic Cart
John J. KohlOctober 17, 2017
Wow. I'm an engineer and it's not often that something impresses me like this cart does. The design of the Ctug is very simple but the details that keep it simple, sturdy, and easy to assemble/disassemble are NOT easy to design, execute, and manufacture. Very well thought out and the description doesn't point out that the wheels are made of two different materials and are not solid hard plastic. The wheels and the hull pads actually have a secondary molded rubber (the tread and the green on top of the pads) with a nice soft hand. I thought I might have to put some padding on it to protect my fiberglass kayak but I definitely don't need to. My only complaint (and it's a tiny one) is that it could probably be a little lighter if limited to a high performance application (which is a trade-off for robustness). I do some distance paddling and I wish it was a little lighter to pack and take with me on a long performance run but I'll live with it.

edit: On second thought, with regards to the weight, I actually weighed them and have come to believe it sort of "looks" and feels heavier than it is. It's not a super light device at around 8lbs but it's not as heavy as I would have guessed. Still 5 stars all day long.

What an awesome piece of equipment, still love to paddle but at 76 dragging around an 80 pound WS Tarpon 120 has limited my fishing trips the last couple years. Read a bunch of positive reviews on the C-Tug cart so took the plunge and bought one. Went out today to a kettle pond here on Long Island NY that has a reputation of being a great bass pond but access is only carry in. The trail in is about 300 yards of semi rough woods road with a section of stairs. The C -Tug took it all in stride. Never loosened up and pulled easy. Stored in the back of Yak no problem. Highly recommended, best purchase in years. Go get one.
No good in sand!

Only giving it a 2 since it works fine on hard surfaces. I bought it for sand. First time out I struggled to get it about 75 yards to the gulf. Worse on the way back. When I disassembled the tug, noticable wear on Axel's. The wheels sunk in the fine quartz sand in Pensacola. The total load was less than 100lbs. I saw another yaker pulling his without wheels and he did fare better than me. I can not recommend this product for sand use.
Only 4 stars because of difficulties on soft sand and gravel

I use this cart to haul my Jackson Big Rig across a parking lot and up/down a boat ramp. Works great. Once I hit the water, I remove the wheels and snap the two halves apart and stow it in the forward hatch. The reason that it isn't 5 stars is because it can't handle gravel or sand very well. I think if it had larger balloon tires it would be just fine. The sand/gravel will eventually pile up between the wheels and then catch the plastic cross pieces and bring it to a halt. So, if you don't need to cross soft sand or fine pea gravel, like they use on some beaches, then I recommend the cart.
AWESOME!!!!!!

This thing is awesome ,well worth the money. I had one of those cheap aluminum ones before and the tires were always going flat for no reason and always slipping out from under the boat and getting all cockeyed. You definitely get your moneys worth. I have to walk a mile through the ghetto on all kinds of terrain and even cross several train tracks to get to the marina and with this thing I didn't have to stop once. My old one ,I had to stop at least 4 or 5 times just to make adjustments. It doesn't pay to go cheap sometimes.
