Not easiest to setup but worth every dollar.

I was not going to purchase this because of all the bad reviews but I did anyway as i did not see other products that offered all the features I wanted for the money. I use the sensor in my pole shed to turn on Dlink siren and alert me if someone went in since our area has seen allot of burglaries lately. I do have a wi-fi router in the building that connects back to house via a power wire Ethernet extender so I can say that my setup is likely more complex then most in home uses.
I do IT for a living so I have the knowledge to work through most technical issues, and i can see how less the savvy people may have issues getting all of this setup. It took about 1 hour for me to get the application, motion sensor and a siren all connected. With how this device connect via the internet and the controls it offers I can understand why it is not simple one or 2 step process to get it working. Since then I can say it has been rock solid and I have had no issues since.
Time will tell on how durable it is with Wisconsin winter coming, but for the money, I think it is a great buy for the piece of mind it gives me.
After my cat set off alarm at 1:30 in the morning I plan on getting the camera to go with it..not sure what i would do if someone with bad intent was in there.

This motion sensor works very well for me but, ...

This motion sensor works very well for me but, as indicated in many of the reviews here, it can be a challenge to set up. If you are not very technical the setup is likely to be frustrating. Likewise, if you get in a hurry and don't follow the instructions carefully, you'll probably have problems.
If you do not know how to switch wifi networks and turn your cellular data off/on on your phone, you will probably have problems setting the sensor up manually. If your router does not have a WPS button you will have to do a manual setup.
Make sure you're using the correct app - mydlink Home. mydlink Lite is for cameras and there are several other dlink apps for other kinds of devices. Use only "mydlink Home" to setup the motion sensor.
If setting up manually, follow the instructions in the app carefully. You'll be required to disconnect your phone from your local wifi and connect temporarily to the sensor on wifi. You'll also need to turn off your cellular data while you do the setup - just as instructed in the app. And don't get in a hurry - give your device a few seconds each time you connect/disconnect in the setup process. Be very careful when entering your local wifi password when prompted.
I've only had the sensor in use a few weeks but it has been flawless - no false alarms and notifications have been near-instantaneous. It also triggers the dlink siren (DCH-S220) exactly as designed.
Update - 03JUL2017
After updating my iPhone IOS to ver 10.3.2 the notifications stopped working in the mydlink home app. Email notifications still work and triggers for the separate D-Link Siren still work but I had to create an app in IFTTT to receive text-style instant notifications. This creates another technical challenge for users of the motion sensor. One star is deducted for this.
Update - 05SEP2017
Notifications did resume after a couple of weeks of the previous update and have been consistent since then. From the D-Link forums it appears they had a problem on their servers.
Update - 20SEP2017
Still working great. And to the comment below... it's a motion sensor, not a camera. Try re-reading the review.

Flexible solution when paired with IFTTT

I was able to use this to add motion detection to an existing Lutron Caseta smart light switch setup and it works well. I already had lights in my carport on a Caseta switch and a schedule that turns them on (dimmed to 10%) after sunset and then off at dawn. I wanted a way to also have the lights go to 100% if motion is detected in my carport.
To do this it took several steps in different places. First of all, IFTTT lets you define an applet, like "if this device detects motion, trigger another device to do something" so this is how you can control the Caseta lights based on motion. Next, I only wanted this to turn the lights on/up at night, so in the D-Link app I set a schedule so that the sensor itself only works from 7AM - 7PM (cant base this rule on sunset unfortunately). And lastly, since the IFTTT motion trigger rule only turns the lights up, I had to create additional rules in the Lutron app to set the lights back to 10%. So I have rules every 2 hours at night to set the brightness back to 10% if needed.
It would be great if the D-Link app could let you schedule it's sensitivity based on sunrise/sunset. Beyond that, the limitations are more on IFTTT and Lutron.

Nice way to scare off burglars!

This is an IP Siren that you can trigger remotely from your phone via the Dlink Home app or it can be setup to be triggered by a leak or motion detector or from a Dlink IP camera. It has four tones. Ding, Chime, Ambulance, and emergency. The latter tones can be used to scare off a bugler. The setup is easy if your router has WPS (Wifi Protected Setup). If it doesn't or if WPS is turned off, you have to set it up manually. To set it up, you download the Dlink App and set your phone Wifi to the default network the Siren broadcast. Then from the App you can scan the QC bar code which tells the app what the device is and gets you to the setup wizard. You follow the wizard and then press the WPS button on your router and the Siren. This should get the siren on the your wifi network and you are all set. However, I didn't have WPS turned so I had to go into my router and turn it on. I'm not sure there is a way to set up the device manually. I couldn't find it and there was no other instructions. Once I turned on WPS on my router, I had no Issues.
From the App I can choose the tone and how long for it to go (3S, 103 30S, 1 Min) as many times as I want. You just plug in the siren in where you want it. What I like about it is from I read most Burglars don't worry too much about a short alarm going off as neighbors might hear it go off once and not think too much. But if the alarm keeps stopping and starting that draws attention that burglars won't want to stick around for.
I have received no inducement and am not affiliated with Dlink or any supplier. I am just a customer trying to help my fellow customers make the best choice.,
I haven't tried to pair it with one of my cameras because I would rather verify myself and set it off.

Works in uncommon configurations.

Working great for over a week. My installation is a bit different. I am using it to activate a WEMO switch to turn on 100+ feet of LED cafe lights outside. I have these in weather proof/resistant enclosures and have good outside WIFI due to an access point I have outside. I had to drill a 1/2" hole in the enclosure for the motion sensor to work. It can not sense anything through plastic or glass. A plastic bag was successful during testing, but not how I wanted to install it. For additional weather proofing, I used silicon on areas prone to water intrusion. To link the sensor to the WEMO switch, I just used IFTT(If this then that website) and a simple rule mated them well.(If motion detected, then turn on wemo)
Works super. Turns on lights as desired and sends IFTT alerts as well(though this is hit or miss it seems).
Also, this set up is working with Alexa(amazon echo) so I can say, "Alexa, turn off cafe lights" and she goes to work.
As a WIFI sensing device, I suppose the price is as expected, though I feel its more of a 20 something dollar device.
