Machined too thin.

BROKE IN TWO during installation. While installing, in order to stop it from leaking under pressure (with a brand new gasket) I used a pair of pliers to tighten it to the hose bib while holding a splitter valve tight beneath it. The product literally twisted in two, it is machined so thin at the collar. This product cost twice as much as a cheaper one, but the cheaper one installed fine and didn't break using the same amount of force. Not worth the extra money.

Expensive anti-syphon valve--Chinese Junk--First one had a pinhole leak in the brass body. Replacement leaked and made a loud noise after only 2 days use. I strongly suggest you do not purchase this item. Apparently Made in China and Quality Control are mutually exclusive processes.

I bought one of these, along with a half-price competitor version. This item is slightly taller and got thicker flesh, so it is slightly heavier. It is a terrible photo here, but it still shows that the separator wall in the middle of the passage is brass, too; the competitor's is plastic, so I assume this one will last longer (a third all plastic version I bought previously from the local hardware store was cracked in this area when mounting the hose for the first time, so it is a viable assumption). I am using this item on the outlet of a hose timer, which kicks back when shutting down. This item passed my initial tests. I am ordering two more, although the seller increased the price for a couple of cents in less than a week :)
Update: I now have three of these attached to two hoses and one timer. There's a noise every time water runs through any of them. I measure the pressure at the faucets (which are new, so don't suspect calcification) as 48-50 psi. It's not one off, so there's something strange with the inner works. I can live with the two that are attached to the hoses, but I had to change the timer settings to avoid the noise in the middle of the night. I am cutting one star.
