Amazing, clear volume for the price and size!

This little thing is amazing! I bought it without much hope (and with much heckling from my husband who had zero hope) because I wanted to use it it for my daughter's wedding...outside...on the beach. She really wanted people to be able to hear the guitar player, the officiant's speech and their vows, but we weren't going to spend thousands of dollars for high-tech equipment. We needed it to be battery-powered because of the location. It's so small that there seems to be no way you should be able to hear it, but all 90 people at the wedding could hear everything!!!
I highly recommend immediately replacing the batteries in the microphone before you do anything important with it (nice that they send batteries for the mics, but they only lasted about 5 minutes), and the lapel and headset microphones don't pick up sound particularly well, but the amount of volume you can get from the unit for the price far outweighs the minor issues (and batteries, and even microphones, are easily upgraded).

Voice quality ok, music quality poor.
Large and heavy for quality of sound. I've heard much better sound from smaller speakers. Wish I could return it. Absolutley no bass. My cell phone plays better music. Headset moves around on ears so amplification of voice cuts out when you move your head.
Update: after 3 months the battery no longer holds a charge and speaker must be plugged in to work. The last time I plugged it in it the lights came on but the speaker did not work. Junk.

HS700 - Microphone cuts-out/loses signal frequently

I purchased the HS700 to use at company events, and specifically an appreciation ceremony at a Tradeshow last month. The microphone keeps cutting out randomly (as well as the lapel mic), even when standing directly next to the unit (within 5'). The indicator light on the side of the speaker turns off for a second like the microphone was either turned off, or out of range. Unfortunately, I am now out of the window to be able to return this unit, so I will try contacting the manufacturer - but I am not holding my breath...I will update this review if anything is resolved beyond either throwing it out or giving it away.
Pro's:
- Bluetooth connects to phone just fine.
- Speaker is quite loud.
- Battery lasts longer than I expected (hasn't come off of full after 30-40 minutes of use at 75% volume).
- Minimal feedback squealing.
- Very compact.
- Controls are intuitive to use.
Con's
- Wireless Microphones keep cutting out (even with fresh 9V batteries).
- Microphone range is probably only 30 ft.
This would have been a 4-star review (maybe even 5) if the microphones didn't cut out and make this unit worthless to me and for my needs. I might just try buying a corded mic so I didn't completely waste $260.

Received it with a defective handheld mic, which sometimes works and sometimes wouldn't and a defective remote that doesn't work.
The hands free mic is not sensitive enough and needs to be VERY close to your mouth in order for it to work. Attaching it to your shirt won't help, so you basically need to hold it close like a handheld device.
The headset mic is badly designed and is completely uncomfortable as it needs to hang from both your ears.
The speaker itself has a terrific sound quality and is very loud and can work well in very large rooms with large audience.
I called their service department and this is what they had to say:
1. I will need to send the handheld mic for service (this is a brand new system)
2. they know the hands-free mic sensitivity is limited and that it needs to be very close to the mouth.
3. they are aware the headset is badly designed and uncomfortable and that there is nothing they can do.

The Hisonic HS 700 is a first-rate microphone system. It is light and portable, easy to set-up and use. It fills a large room (~100 people) with sound and has good fidelity. We use it for talks about music. Battery operation is a great convenience; you don't have to hunt for extension cords in strange environments. It's easy to go from the speaker to recorded music (on computer) and back with the Bluetooth, and the second microphone allows questions from the audience. The system has worked flawlessly for the six months we've had it.
I would give it five stars except that the controls are poorly designed. The top most grouping of controls are various FM knobs that we don't use, and whose functions are only described in the marginally useful manual. The power switch is labeled well, but is on the bottom. In the middle are the most important controls - various microphone adjustments. The Bluetooth is labeled "BT ON/OFF REMOVE" on an inconspicuous button. This had to be held down for 3 seconds, a fact that you have to get from the manual. If the manual is unavailable, the speaker is out of luck. Operation of the Bluetooth control should be made clear on the control panel.
Despite my criticisms of the controls, this system has proven to be very useful to us. I recommend it and would buy it again.
