Isn't what I expected.

This has a very large base that will not fit in a normal stand. It's not as pretty as it is in the picture either. You will be disappointed as I was. Now I have something sitting in my garage and I have to go buy a new stand that has a larger hole than the normal size which I don't know if I will be able to find. They should have stated this that it wasn't the normal size as other gazing balls

I bought the Iris globe, which is mostly violets and blues. It is hefty in weight, so no worries of the wind carrying it off the stand. The mosaic is very elegant looking, and extremely bright and dimensional. In the sun it is stunning, but I like it better in light shade, where it still glitters and glows, bringing color and light where a typical globe will not. You will love the quality, I was actually surprised at how well it is constructed, with the bottom cap tightly fitted, with thick glass. Others have glass so thin you are afraid of it, not this one! The photo is a bit confusing, my globe looks like the middle of the pic, not the outer perimeter. It is rich violets and blues. I would have given it 10 stars if I could have!!!
arrived dirty and broken

When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was how dirty this item was. The styrofoam inside was disintegrating and getting all over the place. I proceeded to take the bubble wrap off and noticed the box was also covered in some sort of black substance (dirt?) Anyway, I started brushing the styrofoam off of the side of the box and immediately cut my finger on something sharp. Sure enough, the base of the globe was cracked. I'm blaming the Echo Valley packaging for this one. A flimsy box and deteriorating styrofoam is not sufficient for a 10 inch GLASS ball. I'll be sending this back and not reordering.

It SEEMS much larger than 10 inches. But, it's lovely. I had read reviews and some had said this could somehow be hung from a branch as well as sat on a stand. I would not attempt to hang this on a tree branch. There is really no way to attach cordage and it is pretty heavy. Still, it's very pretty and sturdy.
