All in all, a solid remote and a steal for the price
IWonderMay 27, 2017
I bought a Roku recently and, unlike most other remotes I have, it doesn't have extra buttons to control the TV. I was tired of the pile of remotes on the couch, so I decided to give this a shot. Given the price, it worked much better than I expected. It's well laid out and supports a fairly large set of devices. It even had codes for my Arcam CD player, which is a fairly uncommon brand.

Setting up devices is quick and easy. But some devices have more than one code to try. So it can take some trial and error to figure out which device features are supported by each code. My LG TV had 7 codes to choose from. They all turned the TV on. I tried several of them to see what the difference was, but they all seemed to support the same features on my particular model as near as I could tell. I wish there was a way to tie codes to specific models. But not a huge deal since the codes provided work. Also, even with the supported codes, there were some buttons I had to have the remote learn manually because they weren't in the pre-programmed set.

Where this remote really shines is the learning function. It quick, simple and it actually works. I've tried universal remotes in the past that weren't able to memorize the codes from my audio pre-amp. But this remote picked them up without a problem. Volume lock works great if you pipe sound through a stereo and want to use it to control volume for all of your devices.

The only feature I found to be a bit wonky was punch through. It doesn't seem to work for buttons that were memorized. Only built-in codes. And based on my testing you have to do all your punch through buttons at once. If you try to add more, it overwrites the first set. There's a 10 second timer on the Set function. So you are limited to how many punch through buttons you can set up in 10 seconds. The instructions for this feature aren't terribly clear. So I could never quite get my head around what it was doing. I eventually gave up.

One thing to think about for the Roku player. Most (except the stick) have an IR remote receiver built in. But the standard Roku remote uses the internet, which doesn't require a line of sight to the receiver. I had my Roku mounted on back of the TV. To get it to work with an IR remote, I had to move it to the front of the TV so I could point the remote at it.

All in all, this is a solid product. And a steal for the price.
Easy to program "automatically" using device codes
Lou DogApril 28, 2017
Easy to program "automatically" using device codes, but also with the ability to customize almost every button in all 4 device modes. It does macros. It does punch throughs. It can see the signal emitted by another remote control, copy it, and assign it to a button. All of these worked perfectly on the first try. It even has the ability to be programmed via USB connection to a computer, where you can really go nuts (requires a cable). The only reason to not buy this remote is if you have to control non-IR devices. Although there are only 4 device buttons (e.g. TV, Amp, DVD, etc.), realistically you could easily control twice that many devices by manually programming only the buttons you need. I can't control my internet video box because it is bluetooth only (thanks for that Amazon!) but I'm getting an IR to Bluetooth adapter that will probably work.
Didn't work "out of the box" but great remote!
M. PriceDecember 28, 2016
Bottom line: great remote. However. Some reviews and descriptions on the product misled me to believe it was pre-programmed for Apple TV and Xbox (both of which I had and desperately needed a good universal remote for) and would work for said devices "out of the box." Mine did not work right out of the box. I had to program it like any other universal remote (Oh and I also needed to unpair my previous Apple remote from Apple TV before this remote could work) and cut out and stick on the custom label stickers on the remote itself (another detail I missed since the pictures showed me "Apple TV," "Xbox" labels already on the remote; they weren't). So don't necessarily expect "out of the box" working remote with the devices it touts. Now that I've programmed the remote with the devices and locked the volume control down for all my devices, wow! Love having ONE remote for my XBOX One and Apple TV.
Great Universal Remote, Very Flexible Programming
T BDecember 26, 2016
I bought one of these to try to decrease the "remote clutter" with so many devices in our entertainment system. I was trying to avoid spending a huge amount for one of the Logitech Harmony series, or other similar remotes. This one works so well that I bought one for my son who is a bigger tech junkie than his dad. Programming is very easy, with adequately clear and understandable instructions. Many features are preprogrammed for XBox One and other media devices. In addition, each button can be custom programmed in every mode. I have since cut the pile of remotes down to two; this Inteset Universal remote, and our Dish satellite controller. I now control the flat screen TV, Xbox One, surround sound audio system, and Blu-Ray disc player all with one remote. In TV mode, it also allows for limited controls while using our Amazon Firestick, without any additional programming. About the only flaws, albeit minor ones, are with the backlight. There is no dedicated backlight button, so you must tap a button such as volume to light up all of them. Also, once it is lit, the backlight turns off too quickly, each time making it a race to light the buttons and then find the one you want before the light goes out. It's a little frustrating, but I can definitely live with it considering how well this remote works otherwise. I highly recommend this remote. One other pro/con is with the label stickers. There is a large variety of stickers included, but they will require a little careful clipping with scissors, as not all the edges are pre-cut. Again, a minor annoyance, well worth tolerating considering all the other great features.
Programming tip! And DirecTV...
Amy HooverSeptember 14, 2016
Very easy to program, but when using the learning function they should add a step "wait several seconds for the back light to turn off to finish programming" at the end.
I replaced 4 remotes using only two of the four selectable modes.
Using the learning function I programmed the extra buttons at the bottom of the remote to two other devices, including my air conditioning remote. Realistically, you could program far more than 4 devices depending on the number of functions it requires if you don't need to use the same buttons.

For DirecTV the 'display' button is the list button and a button that looks like a carriage return is exit, and this is the only reason I took off a star.
A controls my DirecTV, tv power, AC remote, and audio inputs on my audio receiver. B controls the audio receiver because I wanted the universal volume function. Obviously I bought this for its learning function.
