I really like this ! Works great! I did have an issue, CORTES UNLIMITED was fast to reply and to correct it, kudos!! Not US made, but if you read add you know that. This is of good quality, and of course, there will be people with issues, but that is QC on imported goods, it happens! Not the sellers fault. I will be back to purchase again, these are nice !!
Great Lantern!

Great lantern! I received the Dietz Little Wizard today with the Dietz Blizzard as well, both in blue, and it was in perfect condition. I was a little worried it may have some damage or scratches or something, but everything looks great. No scratches or cracking of the globe or any damage or manufacturing defects at all. I trimmed the wick and filled half way with k1 kerosene, let sit for an hour and lit outside. I'm glad I did since it does smell a bit due to the paint smell, but that dissapates quickly. They are burning beautifully and are working exactlly as expected. It does not leak what so ever. I'm glad I purchased this lantern as well as the blizzard, they are perfect. Great packing job as well!
Best Model of the Bunch!

Probably the best of the Dietz Oil lamps!
I ordered a couple of "Jupiters" a "Wizard" and a "#10 Original" and this is by far the best combination of size, length of burn and quality of light!
The "Jupiter" is okay but it is HUGE... not really suited for walking around with... it burns slightly longer on a full tank of oil but really doesn't seem to be any brighter, even though the write says it puts out more lumens.
The "#10 Original" is the good 'ol standby of all of the Dietz lanterns, but it has a much smaller reservoir than the "Wizard" and simply does not seem to put out anywhere close to the same amount of light...
I didn't do any kind of scientific comparison... but... in my book... the "Wizard" WINS!
But... I would still recommend the other two models.... given the caveats on their size, longevity and brightness!
Dietz lanterns are not for everyone, you can find smaller, brighter, lighter weight and prettier oil lamps almost anywhere, but the Dietz are a nice, functional lantern that works when you need it and stands up to all of the knocking around that inevitably happens between uses.

Just 2 weeks after buying this I lost power for 8 days after a major area windstorm. This lantern was very useful and I never had to refill it in all that time, using it for about 4-5 hours a day (I used kerosene). I am giving it 4 stars due to the disappointing construction quality- like others I noticed that the assembly was tweaked and needed finesse to carefully realign parts, and the overall feel of the metal and glass is lightweight. The globe arrived broken right out of the box but the seller quickly replaced it without hassle nor complaint. This lantern definitely filled the bill for its intended use but it is sad that even simple and elegant things are not designed to last anymore so it is no heirloom. Overall I do recommend it but be aware that this is not your great-grandfather's lantern.

I live at the mouth of a canyon in Utah, where I am subjected to high winds during changing temperatures. I have been very satisfied with the performance of this lantern outside during these high winds. I have used this lantern in the rain and snow. Cold temps (15F) don't seem to affect it.
I originally bought it for emergency lighting, since candles don't stay lit well outdoors. Since the purchase I have been using it every day on walks with my dog.
As far as light output it is outdone by electric or propane lanterns, but the availability of oil makes this a necessity for anyone worried about being able to procure supplies during an emergency. I have only used it with lamp oil so far, but there is no reason it wouldn't work with any liquid fat or oil. Using inferior oils is just a question of light output and how quickly it would get dirty.
It comes with a wick. I bought a second one with it just in case, found here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LXNW6W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 but I don't really need it for a while. The wick it comes with will last you a good long while. I use this oil: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TYR8HGY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and am very satisfied. I have used less than a quart of oil so far with about 30 hours of use.
