they protrude from the wall and they just don't look good being a main element bookcase because it's so little

So I ordered 3 of these at once and am able to tell you that the bolts that come with them aren't as described in the instructions. Anyway, they've held up well enough so far as I decided not to bolt them into the wall. You'd have to really know WHERE these are going to live to keep it in place. I left it unfinished/unpainted. They are VERY small. I did read the dimensions but again, they protrude from the wall and they just don't look good being a main element bookcase because it's so little. As a ladder, you would think it should be taller to stand as a piece of eye catching furniture. Other than that, it does the job.
Inside wasn't any better. Definitely don't waste your money (and time) as ...

Cute little ladder to put light objects on. The only issue I had is there was no holes on one of the shelves so I had to drill my own (whoever assembled the shelf put the piece on backwards bc the holes where on the other side). I also stained mine walnut and it looks much better stained/colored. For $22 it was a deal. If you're looking for something very sturdy then you wouldn't want this product.

I was excited when people said it was small. I needed something short because of the vaulted ceilings in my upstairs bedroom. I think it looks much nicer when painted. Even a clear coat would help. It takes paint VERY well. I didn't give it 5 stars because it was a little bit of a pain to put together and it would have been nice if there were more room between the shelves. But it will look nice with a few little nic nacs on it
