EDIT: The clip opened again, and no one was touching the harness or anywhere near the clip. The puppy who weighs 25 lbs was in her harness (I use a harness when we "play" work is in a collar) when a bird landed in front of us. She pulled and stood up on her hind legs then started jumping and really pulling. This clip held all of 10 seconds during her shenanigans and then it opened and off she went. This type of clip, when there is pressure exerted seems to open up a little then stay like that until slight pressure is applied again then it opens completely. Do not use for leashes, lead lines, or reins because if a small hopping puppy can pull hard enough to open it - well that's not good.

Original review: There is nothing wrong with the clip other than it is small and very easy to open - I braided my own leash for a 5 month old puppy. It held up great until one day she darted past me into the horse paddock, I reached down to grab her harness, missed her harness and grabbed the clip instead. Some how I unclipped her leash from her harness. I think my thumb may have brushed it with just the right amount of downward pressure but I would NEVER EVER use a clip of this type for a dog/horse/cat leash/reins/lead line because I almost lost my puppy that day due to the clip being so easy to open. Yes, this is totally on me and its probably a freak accident but those type of accidents are the types that kill. I used to use these all the time on my reins to quick change bits with and NEVER had a problem BUT I never had a horse really spook or test the durability either so I would no longer use these for rein clips as well because if its that easy to open and I loose control of the horse in a sketchy situation where we could be both hurt or hurt some one else, lets just say I never want to see that day and I never want to give it a chance to occur.
