Cultivates with ease.

Although the 1st one we ordered had an important piece missing. The return/replacement was very easy. The new one has worked great. Bought an older home with a yard full of berry bushes. This has sliced through the roots nicely. Don't forget to clean between the blades when cutting through rough stuff.

Replaced my ten year old craftsmen tiller with this one! Nice to not have to mix gas with oil on this model 7940 you cannot go wrong buying a Mantis tiller they are simply the best for getting into tight spaces and pulverizing dirt to very fine granules...this works better than my old heavier craftsman. Thank you Amazon and Mantis :)
Strong tiller but a bit disappointed.

Strong tiller with great safety features. Easiest tiller I ever started. However, the tine pin came loose and was lost and the tillers vibrations caused one of the acorn nuts to fall off. Have a locking tine pin or include more pins. I used the tiller on hard clay soil and got a occasional bounce from a root but the tiller did a fantastic job. None the less, without a tine pin............tried to find one on a Sunday, the tiller is out of action.

This was my SECOND Mantis tiller, as my first one was the 2 stroke smaller version that had problems with starting after just one season in which I used it for 3 or 4 times, literally less than 40hrs of run time. This version I bought was slightly bigger, just slightly heavier, and with an extra set of tines (has 4 compared to my previous model with 2), still was too weak to penetrate hard soil. At this price point, I went out and bought a Professional Power Done Right tiller for only $100 more and it kicks butt! This Mantis tiller is too weak, too light, and bounces around ineffective on hard soil. the DR tiller just rips right through the soil. If you have some small, soft, garden area to till, this Mantis may do the job... otherwise it's overpriced for the power/capacity for a tiller of this size...

Love it. Great for either tilling or cultivating. Wouldn't be good for breaking new ground, especially heavy clay, but for working up my small garden, it is fine.
