I bought this guy in 2017 and actually prefer it over my Speedglas. Ya, my Speedglas is old so maybe if I bought a new one...
Anyway, this thing works well and I only have two pretty minor complaints.
First complaint is the on-off/shade control is on the outside so if you're in an awkward position you can accidentally bump it. Normally not a problem and it looks like the newer models moved the controls to inside the mask. So, maybe a newer model would be a better choice.
Second complaint is that changing the batteries is a pain in the butt because you have to pretty much dismantle the whole helmet to get to the batteries. The good news is the batteries last a really really long time.
The bottom line is I really like this helmet. It works, it's easy to adjust, (maybe too easy) and it always plops down to the same place when you nod your head to start welding.

This is the third auto darkening helmet I've owned and it's by far the best. It's got a wide range of shade settings and lower ranges that my other helmets didn't have. My welding seems to be improved because of it. I'm glad other reviews mentioned the difficulties with changing the batteries... they are difficult to get to. As soon as I opened the box I tested every thing to make sure it was working properly and then took the helmet apart to make sure I could find the batteries. Not a super big issue but they are indeed more difficult to change than other helmets I've encountered. I really appreciate all the spare parts. That was an unexpected surprise. The only slight issue I had was that the headband adjustment was at it's max limit for my head. I know I've got a big head but I haven't had a problem with previous helmets or caps. If you've had problems finding a cap to fit your head you may have a problem with this. Overall a super helmet for the price. BTW I use it for both Mig & plasma cutting. It works great for either.

I've used this hood for a little more than a month and it's been the best hood I've ever purchased so far.I do a lot of tig welding and I'm used too a fixed shade so having a hood that can adjust the shade is great and the huge lens helps alot to see more vs a 2x4 lens.love the design and for the price the auto darkening lens is pretty good but ofc it's only been a month so if anything changes I'll make sure to update.
