So far so good

Installation was straight forward after watching a couple of YouTube videos. Their strength is amazing. In fact it's almost work getting the hatch shut but that is certainly better than bashing my head against it. The real acid test won't come for several months when the temperatures drop well below freezing. That's when the original struts couldn't hold the hatch up at all.
An easy fix for an annoying problem!

The hatch on my Xterra was sagging and such a nuisance, but I just lived with it forever because I didn't know how easy it would be to fix!! I finally complained one day after whacking my head for the umpteenth time on the low door and my fiancé casually mentioned that we could get new struts at the auto store. Blew my mind. Being the savvy shopper, I found these guys on Amazon instead for way less than the store was asking. When they arrived, we watched a short Youtube video on installation and headed out to the car. It literally took less than five minutes and no fancy tools! I held up the hatch and he popped off a couple clamps with a screwdriver. Popped the new ones in and BAM, done! The hatch is back up at it's original height. It definitely takes a little more effort to close than before, but I think I was just used to it basically falling shut on it's own. I'm a petite female and have no trouble closing the hatch with the new struts. Go buy these, they're great!
great, powerfull, easy to install.

nissan xterra 2008, fits perfectly, easy install. open the hatch 1/2 way, these will power it up the rest of the way. on removal of old shocks, you see s place for a flat screw driver under a clip, use a screw driver to pry here while pulling shock away from mounting ball. When putting on new shock, no screwdriver to this clip is needed, just push shock on mounting ball.
An easy and cheap DIY fix that works!

These are GREAT! Highly recommend.
I hit my head on my Xterra's liftgate -- or lift and droop more and more over time gate -- so much that it likely resulted in multiple concussions. That's probably why it took me so long to ask the dealer how much they would like to overcharge me to repair it. When I finally remembered, they didn't disappoint. I think the sticker shock figure was about $300-400 to replace both. Wtf?!?
I found these on Amazon for 1/10 the price. Had a buddy help me install both (you'll need someone tall and strong enough to hold one side at a time) in less than 5 min's. And now I can remember again, since they're actually doing the job of holding up the liftgate.
They do make it a bit harder to shut the gate down (they seem a bit more stiff than the original parts), but that's a hell of a lot better than it drooping or falling all of the time. These parts: 1. Nissan parts: 0. Nissan service: -100

Easy to Install

I put off replacing these things for years. The stock supports went out on my Nissan Xterra within the first couple of years and the replacements from the dealership were ridiculously expensive. I saw these while ordering a new motor for my window and saw reviews saying they are easy to install. They work great and they really were easy. It took me five minutes to replace with someone holding the door while I popped the old off & these on. Get them!
