What keeps it from a 5 for me is it arrived with no user manual, no hardware, no tool. Easy enough to fix, but still, an indication of Concept 2"s inattention to detail. The functionality however is a 5 "hands-down". I have been using rowers for years. Its hard to imagine being able to buy a rower at a fitness center functionality level for use in your home...all under 1K.

The quality of this Rowing machine is unmatched! The ergonomics are perfect. This unit is worth every cent if you are a serious fitness enthusiast. Buy cheap and you will get cheap! This is absolutely "professional gym quality" fitness equipment that is built for hard, daily use. Easy, one person assembly from the box. Through my extensive research, I've learned that this brand of rower has been used by the US Olympic Rowing Team, what a great endorsement. I love the cardio-endurance and core-strengthening benefits achieved. I suffer from chronic lower back issues and my back is NOT compromised when this rower is used properly. I would highly recommend the Gel-Cushion seat with straps as an accessory; it will provide for extra comfort for sessions greater than 20-30 minutes.

Great rower and was relatively easy to assemble by myself. I like the option to link it to a heart rate monitor. It operates smoothly and relatively quietly (keeping in mind that rowing isn't the quietest activity to begin with), and has plenty of settings to choose from. A year later, admittedly, I don't use it as often as I had hoped, mostly because a rower isn't the easiest/quietest piece of equipment to use while simultaneously catching up on your Netflix, which I've realized is what I wanted home equipment for in the first place. It's easy to move around, but not quite easy enough that I choose to do it - partially because I worry about it scratching the floor of the room it's in (although it hasn't done so yet). In short, it's really a great home rower, just think about why you're buying something for your home in the first place before deciding specifically whether you want a rower or something else entirely.
