Great speaker. I think it is made for a mobile installation as it has the rotatable bracket. I use it on my ICOM 718 as a Base speaker. I screwed it down to my shelf. Good sound quality. Comes with all the screws and bracket. I had an old Uniden speaker that works but does not sound as well as this one. Big difference.
Loud and clear external speaker

Use this with my mobile ham radio and find it to be loud and clear. My hearing isn't great so I'm happy to have this speaker to help me hear the nets I join on my radio. I have used it out in the "field" when volunteering at remote, mountainous sports events that require ham radio operators. I find it to be an essential part of my equipment.

Do yourself a favor and buy this over the cheap ones you may have been looking at. The quality is lightyears ahead in terms of sound and overall build. I get crystal clear audio at any volume from dead silent to moderately uncomfortable.
The speaker is installed in my Jeep Cherokee (XJ) with an FTM400 and I have it behind me on the rear passenger seat. My plan was, and may still be, to flush mount it in an overhead console rather close to my head. Now, I dont know if that is even necessary. Even from the rear cargo area, the sound is loud and clear. I have a deeper exhaust note and loud tires and I can hear this speaker perfectly. Doing 65 with the windows open makes no difference, either.
If your concern is like mine was, you will not have any issues hearing this speaker anywhere in your vehicle in nearly any condition.
