seems very bright, well built and relatively compact. i have one at each house and on my boat. lights up the whole cabin. does seem to eat batteries faster than expected...but rechargeable batteries with a small solar panel on the boat solves the problem. it does seems as if the lights don't go out sequentially as you push the top down to lower the light level. that means it is always shining at full strength even when just partly closed. otherwise a good buy for what it is and the price. would certainly buy again if it lasts as long as i think it might.

Bought one for my niece as a joke - my niece is going camping with us and told me I didn't buy her a lantern but bought all the other younger kids one (she's 40'ish) - However after receiving "her present," I liked it very much! I decided to re-order and I really like it . I've operated the "slide switch" multiple times (but not hundreds) and it seems fine so far - I like the design - I guess we'll see how well it holds up but so far it's pretty nice, reasonably bright too. How to describe the amount of light? "Not brilliant, but in a pitch black room , say 10 x 12 it easily lights the whole room and be able to read a book? It's an "area light," and certainly can be used while "path walking," I like the battery compartment design. Right now, I have only one minor issue. The lamp is powered by 4 AA cells in series and drew a solid 1020ma (slightly over 1 amp) with brand new AA cells - but also remember, it's running "30" fairly bright LED's - I might see if I can easily install a switch to limit the lamp to one bank of 10 LED's at times if possible - I would buy it again (well obviously I did)

Compact, bright and simple to use. It would have gotten 5 stars except that 1 of the 24 LED's doesn't light and you need to be careful that you fully close the lantern; even if it's only open a crack the lights stay on but you can't tell. If it gets redesigned in the future I would suggest a more positive detent to let you know it's fully closed.
Safe to have on at night instead of candles...

I bought 4 of these lanterns for a person I know. She currently doesn't have electricity in her house and was using candles to light the house at night. She has a 7 year old daughter and she told me she worried about having candles around to light her house because of the danger of a fire. I looked on line and found these: Ultra Bright LED Lantern - Camping Lantern - for Hiking, Emergencies, Hurricanes, Outages, Storms, Camping - Multi Purpose - Black - Divine LEDs. They are bight and she loves them and so does her little girl. She feels safe at night now knowing that her little girl can have one of these lanterns next to her while she's playing with her dolls and her daughter loved it because the size. She said this lantern is just the right size for her. :-)

Awesome bright little lantern. Easy to use, easy to put batteries in. It comes with a lifetime warranty, that is if you can get the site to register you. I got this for camping, the handles hang from the hook in my car which also serves as my tent. Lights it up til I am ready to crash. Easy on easy off, I like its compact size, easy to toss in my duffle bag and take with me when I go camping. With everything else I have to pack for me and my dogs I like that it is smaller.
The registration ability for your lantern SUCKS, unable to register my lantern, emailing Customer service, you get no response outside of a generic message on their web site. Highly disappointed in the whole registration of your lantern. Other wise the lantern is great.
