this is my second purchase of this product - the outside lock on the first one broke after my patient tried to break into the box. This pill dispenser is definitely tamper proof. I agree with the previous reviewer - I'm not happy about the price, which seems very, very, very high. This dispenser does work, and is tamper proof. The first one lasted 4 months and and so far has worked for a month +. For the cost and the experience with the first dispenser i feel like I can only give it 3 stars. If the price we a couple hundred less, I would definitely give this 5 start.
