Self Cleaning

Loved our previous Primo unit except for one thing, it was not self cleaning. This one is and that feature is critically important. The model numbers are identical with the exception of two letters at the end which for most items such as appliances usually refers to the color. Not in this case. Those two letters designate whether or not you have to play with running bleach water through to kill mold and then having to run clean water through many times to get rid of every drop of bleach. Not fun and way too time consuming. Make sure you get this one which is self-sanitizing. They shouldn't even sell the other one!

I really like this water cooler. We had a top loading one and the excess water woukd sit in the top and get dirty and disgusting. This bottom load is so easy that the kids can even do it.
At times, the water seems to be warm, so I just flip off and back on the cooling switch which seems to help.
I really like the self-cleaning aspect of it. Before changing a bottle, I do the self-cleaning. It takes a bit of time, and it does produce a "ozone" odor, but it's not a big deal.
We don't use the hot water portion of it, so I can't review that.
I would suggest when you are first installing it, run a pot full of water through it, before putting a bottle in there. It does have a strange taste for the first few uses.

Pump getting slow to a halt? PLEASE READ!

I originally wrote a poor review because the pump was working at 40% capacity compared to when I bought it new (it's now 1 year old). This gave the illusion that the pump was failing. HOWEVER, after a quick YouTube search, it's not the pump failing that's causing the water flow to slow to a halt. It's a little screen that blocks water flow after it fills up with precipitate from the water over time!
All you need to do is pull out the little black part where the water comes out and either 1. clean the filter or 2. remove it entirely. And then VIOLA! The water flow works just like new! (even faster than new if you leave the filter out completely like I did).

Works pretty good. A couple qwerks: Dispensing buttons feel real cheap and wobbly. I hate cheap stuff. The other thing is that it has a clear warning on there not to dispense water while it's in self-cleaning mode, yet I have seen no way to tell when it's performing the self cleaning.
Great product definately worth the added cost!

We purchased this because I got tired of paying to "rent" one from our water company. I was a little worried about the noise and leaking mentioned in other posts and was pleasantly surprised to have no leaks at all. It is a little bit noisy when it is filling the reservoir and while dispensing, but not overly so. We are using this in our home and we have 6 people living here so although it is not getting the amount of use it would in an office setting, it is getting used a lot and we have had no issues with it. The bottom loading is great, especially for my wife and the system gets almost all of the water out of the bottle (another worry I had with a bottom loader).
I am very happy with this purchase and my wife absolutely loves the "self clean" option and that the nozzle can be removed for cleaning. Highly recommended!!
