Elegant simplicity.

The enclosure works perfectly with the 480GB Crucial SSD that I had lying idle. Assembly was easy, the drive showed up in Windows 10 without a hitch. The construction is all plastic, with no fasteners to get lost. Two pieces of anti-static foam hold the drive in place so there's no rattling.
I don't see plastic as a drawback. It's sturdy enough for the intended purpose and after all, it only cost $10.

Sturdy plastic case, easy insertion, holds up well.

Sturdy plastic cover that holds very well regular use under normal circumstances, e.g., when not dropped or compressed. The case does not get hot and with days of use the drive functions very well, no hum or other sounds audible. The drive insertion into this case was very simple and straight forward. The USB 3 cable works also well and is fast. In short, for this price, an excellent quality.

Case is a bit difficult to close sometimes.

I have two drives from old laptops that I want to use as external drives. I originally was going to buy a docking station where I could swap the drives out as needed. But I could see that the drives could easily get damaged with this system, and it was bulky. I bought one of these for less than half the price of the dock, and the drive is well protected and easy to use as an external storage drive. Going back for a second one for the other drive. Great find!!!

This does a nice job of holding a drive for back ups. The reason I gave it a 4 star is the delicate locking tabs. One got bent during the first attempt at opening it. If this is for a once and done enclosure then 5 star but if you go in and out of it then be very careful. The other Sabrent with the slide on back and locking mechanism is better for occasional drive swaps.
