Took this down by one star. I found out from my dentist that old-school flossing is still better than using this. Floss creates a friction that this doesn't have. :( So I've been using both...

Waterpik! Where have you been all my life?? Seriously, if you hate flossing because it's either annoying, tedious, awkward or all of the above, invest in this. It's worth it!
Admittedly, I wouldn't say this device necessarily saves you time, but it's simple to use, and I find it easier than going old school. You can adjust how powerful you want the spray to be, so for those really tight spots, you'll want to crank it up full blast. (Otherwise, you may have to bring out the ol' dental floss...and then what's the point of having this thing??)
It'll take a few tries to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, you'll kick yourself for not getting one sooner.
By the way, this model does not come with a tongue cleaner, so I'm gonna have to figure out where to buy that attachment, because other models do include it.

I have never had a problem with plaque. I came back to the U.S. from two years in West Africa, and my dentist looked at my teeth and said I have no plaque on my teeth, BUT they are cracked! I am a person who eats chicken bones down to shards...if I have KFC, there will be a tiny pile of bone shards left on the plate when I'm done. I eat all of the cartilage, then I split the bone and chew all of the marrow out of it...I'm a savage. I'm no longer doing that because I'm mostly plant-based these days (with occasional wine and cigarettes). On Dec. 27th, I had my 3rd molar removed. It had been capped, twice. It hurt for three years because it was cracked, so I had it removed, turns out it was the second healthy tooth I had removed for no reason. WV dentists remove healthy teeth, FYI. I bought this machine to clean around the three isolated teeth I still have. I have three islands that are not easy to floss "between". This is a good-looking appliance! It doesn't take up a lot of room on the sink, and it has three heads with different colors, so I load it up for my husband at bedtime (he grew up in CA with fluoride in his water and has no cracked teeth, but he has a pocket of gingivitis the dentist is watching). He flosses in the morning, but not on the weekends! He has major plaque in his lower teeth when he doesn't floss, I don't have that because my saliva is different, apparently.

I have been seeing the ads on television for the last few months and finally decided to try the Waterpik. I am utterly amazed with this thing. I've only been using it for three weeks now but I can tell a difference in my oral hygiene. My mouth "feels" cleaner. My wife commented that even my teeth look whiter. I get some tarter buildup around my front teeth but over the last three weeks even the tarter is greatly reduced.

I wish my dentist or hygienist had recommended a Waterpik twenty years ago. I'm a little annoyed that they haven't.

I use this item in conjunction with periobrite cleanse - a waterflosser additive that you can add to the water reservoir that is completely natural and aids in gum health and cleaning. The Waterpik and Periobrite Cleanse are the one two punch.

Had a problem with this item and contacted the corporate customer service. Bottom line my unit does not work when plugged in. They had awful service, did not even seem to care or apologize. They simply stated because I plugged it in on a military installation outside of US the warranty is void and they would not help. I never even was able to use it once since the first time I plugged it in it would not work. All of my other electronics work fine, including their competitors product. Since they really did not care and never even expressed any regret or sympathy or apology I will never buy from them again. Now I have a product that will not work with a warranty that is void that I was never able to use even once.

HOWEVER I would like to add that Amazon's handling of my disatisfaction with this product was best in class. To my surprise they came to the rescue and helped me resolve this issue positively. While the manufacturer (Waterpik) did nothing, Amazon did everything. For that I am thankful.

Some say this is loud, I don't find it to be horrible, and my wife sleeping outside our bathroom said it doesn't wake her up so... It cleans like a son of a gun though! I talked to my dental hygienist about it and she said NEVER EVER spray it down into your teeth or gums. ONLY spray it between and horizontally through your teeth so that's what I've been doing. I personally use mine at the highest setting, but that's just me.

I lean down into the sink, leave my mouth open and let the water just pour out as I clean. I'm amazed what I see in my sink as I'm doing it.

I use warm water with it with no issues. I would assume the pump/motor is water cooled so I wouldn't use too hot of water with it.
