I have one of the first Water Piks, and they improved, with new attachments. My favorite is the plaque seeker tip, as it negates the need for flossing. I asked my dentist if I needed to floss if I used this attachment, and she said no, that it is better than flossing. A friend of mine who has a different dentist said the same thing. I used the Water Pik at least twice a day and use the plaque seeker tip at night when I'm through eating for the day.

I love this. I struggle flossing. It hurts, it's hard to do, it's gross. Always struggled to get into any sort of habit. This thing is amazing. I love the black, looks nice. It doesn't hurt like flossing does especially since you can put it on a setting perfect for you. It actually feels really good, the water going between your teeth.
It is kind of messy though, water splashes everywhere. Hopefully, once I've been using it for a while, I'll get better technique and maybe it won't do that so much. It's also really loud. Luckily, I live alone so there is nobody to disturb.

Some say this is loud, I don't find it to be horrible, and my wife sleeping outside our bathroom said it doesn't wake her up so... It cleans like a son of a gun though! I talked to my dental hygienist about it and she said NEVER EVER spray it down into your teeth or gums. ONLY spray it between and horizontally through your teeth so that's what I've been doing. I personally use mine at the highest setting, but that's just me.
I lean down into the sink, leave my mouth open and let the water just pour out as I clean. I'm amazed what I see in my sink as I'm doing it.
I use warm water with it with no issues. I would assume the pump/motor is water cooled so I wouldn't use too hot of water with it.

Love the way it looks, I got the teal. And yes I'm one of those people that will pay a premium for cute stuff, obviously. With the negative reviews I half expected the thing to leak like crazy and sound like a lawnmower but really, it's not loud and it doesn't leak at all.
Performance is good, I am one of those rare freaks that enjoys the dental hygienist scraping my gum line and cleaning my teeth. I floss like a madwoman, and I didn't get the appliance to replace flossing but for around my crown and dental implant and for the added bonus of "extra" clean teeth behind those hard to reach molars. I like the way it feels on my gums, and I must say my teeth do feel pretty spectacular! Sound investment and great addition to my dental hygiene routine.

Both my husband and I had Waterpiks in the 80's when we had braces. Our 8 year old son recently became intrigued by them, and we decided anything that increases an 8 year old's interest in oral care AND will also improve ours is a win/win. We received the waterpik a day earlier than expected, and the packaging was in great condition. Everything described was included. I love that it is a nice compact size, and does not occupy a great deal of counter space. We have liked that you can add mouthwash to the water, it adds an extra feeling of clean. There are plenty of different water pressure settings, so each family member's needs are met. There is a massage setting, however I do not see the benifit for myself. Overall, fantastic product that proves Waterpik knows what they are doing. Looking forward to reaping the benefits of our new Waterpik at the Dentist office!
