Love this hat!!!✓ Verified Purchase•October 31, 2023
Works well"¦ just remember it's preset so there's no changing the temp. If the temp is right for you then it's fantastic and if you have a bunch of tanks like I do then it makes individual heating more affordable.
Works great for one year

This heater keeps the water temperature a constant 77° and all you have to do is plug it in. It's pre-set. No fiddling with a dial.
I'm on my third one now because they quit after about 1 year. But during the year it's very reliable and steady. I would give it 5 stars if it would last longer.

Only dislike is you can not change the temperature!

When I purchased it, I was not aware that it automatically turns on when atemperature drops to low! I experienced ICK,and one way to get rid of it, is to turn the thermometer up to 80 or higher. I could not turn this up due to manufacturing setting! It is a nice size and keep the temp at the correct temperature!
Very Handy

I just love these and are my go to in most of my tanks. I've read both good and bad about these and auto heaters in general, but you'll find that on most any product. I personally have had absolutely positive results with all of mine. I think manual temp heaters are very useful for some specific conditions, but if you size the wattage right for your tank and fluctuations in room temp then it just becomes a choice of preferrence as to man/auto heaters. IMHO
Has thermostat, doesn't overheat, great for backup or emergency equipment!

I prefer a heater with an adjustable thermostat. However, I keep one of these economical and dependable heaters on hand for those times you need an emergency backup, for an unexpected aquarium setup for quarantine or meds, for example. They have a thermostat that keeps the temp at a preset and even temperature (MANY smaller heaters do not, and will OVERHEAT smaller containers of water to dangerous temperatures! Watch out for that!). My first Aqueon 100 watt unit (like this one) gave its life due to my stupidity - this unit has an overheat safety feature - it burned itself out instead of burning my house down, when it was removed from the water and inadvertently left plugged in for an extended time, because of a fish emergency. Great safety feature! Why I bought this unit again, am happy to use it, and keep it with my backup aquarium equipment.
