I've had my 135 gallon Cichlid tank since 1991. I had given up on heaters for many years because they just get broken. And they never really had enough power to be stable. I bought this big 850 watt heater and I couldn't be happier! And the cichlids are much happier with warmer temperatures. More active, more colorful, and noticeably healthier.
I was a little worried because it said it had a 5 foot cord which wasn't gonna do it for a big tank like that. But, in truth it has roughly two 5 foot cord sections with the pendant in between. They should change their advertising specs on that. Because that was almost a dealbreaker for me. There is lots of cord. Very nice digital pendant too.
This is an outstanding product. Especially for tanks with fish that like to break heaters. I don't think I'd ever buy anything else but this one ever again.

Accurate, easy to use, works outdoors, make sure you have good water flow around it

I wanted a compact submersible heater to keep the water warm in a little 4-gallon rock fountain we have on our front porch. Our winters aren't awful where I live, but the temperatures do get down into the 20s or even teen occasionally. We have a few goldfish in the fountain and wanted to let them just "winter over" in there. This heater is small and flat, and has been able to keep the water at 68 reliably. I would actually prefer to keep it a little cooler for goldfish, but 68 is the lowest setting and the fish tolerate it just fine. It warms the water without the heater being a "hot spot". The controls are intuitive and easy to use. One word of caution. It is important that this heater has water flow on all sides. I placed it flat on the bottom of the fountain floor and it worked for a day or two and then shut off with the error code that it was "out of the water". I unplugged it, removed it from the water for a few minutes, put it back in, and it restarted and worked fine, only to flag the same error again the next day. I finally figured out that having it flat on the bottom throws off its temperature sensing and it thinks it is overheating. Just propping it a 1/2" off the bottom on a small rock was enough to stop the problem and it worked beautifully ever since. I would highly recommend it for use in an indoor aquarium tank as well, as it is very accurate (compared with two other thermometers) and it doesn't vary by more than 0.1 degree over a whole day from warm afternoons in the 50s outdoors to very cold nights in the 20s.
Well-made and reliable

I never used any Hygger product before, but I wanted a heater with a digital readout and this one seemed to fit the bill. When I pulled it out of the box, I was surprised at the weight of it. It seems very well-made. It's very easy to set the temperature and it does have a nice display. No more having to find where the glass thermometer bobbed away to. And I don't have to mess with a little plastic ring to change the temperature like on my old ones. Also, once you stick it where you want it, it's not going anywhere. It stays put. It also holds the temperature steady. Right now, my temp gun says it's 79.5 and the Hygger reads 79.2. I'm pretty sure I have the highest wattage, and this keeps my 125 gallon right where it should be. I recommend this heater.
3 years strong - GREAT HEATER FOR OUTDOOR FISH POND

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: 2022 is the third year we are using this heater in our outdoor pond. I cleaned it with lime away to remove some mild corrosion that was on the heat platter portion and rinsed it in a bucket for a few days, looks new, works just like day 1. This is a reliable heater for outdoor ponds. I just loaded a year 3 video.
Used this to heat a latge 7 foot diameter, 18" deep outdoor fish pond over the winter. I placed it under the rain protected pond seat edge where it was dry and out of reach from raccoons and other little hands. The heater platter wire was ample length to place it in a clay pot in the pond so that it didn't contact the rubber liner even though the sturdy plastic slotted housing keeps away from contact. I used this from October to March in Orlando Florida. Our mollies, swords, plattys, cory's, all lives and were at their desired 80 degrees all winter. The pond is about 430 gallons and it cost about 20 dollars a month in electric to heat it to 80 degrees. We turned the fountain feature off on the cold days to lessen the air cooling of the heated water.

So I've had this heater for 6 months to a year so I think it is time to review it.
I bought 2 other heaters prior that were dismal failures within a few days to a week of installing them and those out there who have salt tanks know that can be lethal to the occupants if not caught immediately. I will not list them because that is not my intent here, but rather to promote a product that lives up to its claim.
I have this in a 120gal salt tank set at 78deg and when it drops below that (usually 2deg max) it brings it up to set temp. I do have 2 thermometers on the other side of my tank that confirm that this unit is working well.
The controller for this heater is nice and kinda has a more modern look to it as well.
So far so good.....a product that does what it is meant to do.
