I suppose this little amp will "power" a lot of speakers with its 50WPC rating, but don't go in with any audiophile expectations. The specs provided claim that it has a frequency range of 20Hz-20KHz, but that's industry standard mumbo jumbo and happens to be the commonly accepted range of human hearing.

I mention this because there is no way that the 50WPC rating at less than 0.1% THD was given over the entire audible spectrum. I'm guessing they picked one or two "easy" to amplify frequencies like 900Hz or 5Khz and took the 50WPC rating only at those frequencies. You may be asking why it matters? It's the sound - it just isn't very good at any volume setting other than the lowest 3 'notches' on the dial.

Now - If you can forego any audiophile expectations - and I'm using the term loosely here (for an example of "audiophile" see the speakers they are pictured with) - then this is a pretty cool little amp. Construction quality is OK, if a bit lightweight, and the Bluetooth receiver seems to work for me in most situations.

Trouble is, I get better sound from my JBL sound stick and my Definitive Audio Cube, both of which I got for less than $100 a few years ago. So there are likely some applications where this thing is a better fit than an all-in-one Bluetooth speaker, but I can't really think of any. Perhaps this Grace Digital product is very sensitive to the types of speakers one plugs into it, but I've tried a few including JBLs, KEFs and Paradigms and they all sound less "good" than a 30 year old Technics 35WPC receiver....um....OK.

I did just read another reviewer's notes about using thinner speaker wire, so maybe I'll give that a shot. Maybe the suboptimal sound has something to do with output impedance or needing speakers higher than 6Ohms to sound good.
typical of digital amps like this one
loce_the_wizardMarch 2, 2018
I looked a several of these small digital amp but settling on the Grace in large measure because of its features, form, and function. I wanted a portable amp that I could stash in a back back for trips or use on the porch or pergola while relaxing or entertaining.

I was not looking for oodles of amplification or a source for serious nuanced listening. The sound is a tad harsh, typical of digital amps like this one, but only when I stop and just focus on the music, which I rarely do in the setting described. But for creating a convenient soundscape at a social gathering or for ease of use, this Grace amp exceeded my expectations. It drives whichever bookshelf speakers I am using (Polks or Elacs) gracefully (had to work that in) and to a pleasantly full volume.

Set up and use are simple. The Bluetooth connectivity works well. Controls work fine. I much prefer the buttons, both for form and function, to the toggle switches used on many of these portable digital amps.

One note that may interest some concerns speaker wire. Though the amp was supposed to include speaker wire, mine did not. When I tried this unit with some 10 gauge cables, the sound seemed congested and dull. I contacted Amazon and a helpful staffer recommended AmazonBasics 16 gauge wire. I was skeptical but found this amp sounded much better when I used the thinner gauge speaker wire. I used banana plugs both times, BTW.
Very Good - Not intended to be "High End"

This unit performs amazingly well - there are some very good reviews here - you should read - - these are some points you might find useful.
There are two versions of this unit - one has USB port (keep device charged) and the other has a Sub woofer out (could be handy)
The rating is not 100 Watts per channel - It is 50W X 2 - - it has power - - but not that much.
The unit announces that it is on and connected - it would be nice if there was a way to defeat that.
No discernible difference between direct connect and Bluetooth (good)
APTX and AAC - - - sounds good with iPhone
The sound is good - but not exceptional . . . if you are using-high end speakers - - - you should have bought a high-end receiver.
You will need to buy banana plugs and speaker wire.
I like it. It's tiny
Jim MeyerAugust 10, 2017
I like it. It's tiny, sounds great, and gets along well with all my Bluetooth devices. The only drawbacks are the limited number of levels (7) for bass and treble, and the "timeout" feature that turns it off if it hasn't gotten a signal. (I'm using it as my computer's sound amplifier.) It has an aux in port for your non-bluetooth stuff. Whatever you do, don't forget to attach the antenna! It won't receive the bluetooth signal very well without it. I did finally figure this out when I looked in the box and saw the "extra" part in there...
Cool little amp
John C.May 17, 2017
I use this in my garage with a pair of Pioneer SP-BS22-LR speakers. It's pretty fantastic. The volume is great for such a small amp - more than enough to drive me out of my two car garage - and it has never felt much warmer than room temperature. I've never fiddled with bass/treble levels or tried to use the line in, but for a basic amp with bluetooth connectivity, I can't ask for much more. I rarely use the remote but it's never given me trouble.

It very enthusiastically announces "Volume on! Bluetooth connected!" every time I turn it on, which was annoying at first but I guess is almost endearing now. It's connects basically instantly when I turn it on.

I did find it a little tricky to pair initially, but I think the antenna wasn't connected quite right because when I unscrewed it and screwed it in very firmly it suddenly paired ok. I did try again with a Galaxy S-6 and if memory serves it never wanted to pair, though I didn't try all that hard. It works fine with my Nexus 5x and an iPad though.

For the money and the size, and general ease of use, it's great.
