Saved My Butt!
Ernie•October 20, 2016
This electronic valve already saved my ass. I set it up on my washer and then turned on the water supply. Within minutes, the alarm went off and the valves closed. I thought the unit was defective until I discovered that my washer hose was leaking! Without this unit, I would have destroyed my solid wood flooring! Thank you!
Straightforward installation and good quality.

This is an initial review, as these have only been installed for a few days, and I don't have a feel for long-term durability yet. ThT said, valves appear to be very high quality and they work smoothly and reliably. The electrical hookup is straightforward but you do have to be careful in inserting the connections into the controller, as the pins are small - not hard to do, but just take your time and don't rush it. Instructions are good, and the system works as advertised. You will need four AA batteries to provide backup power, and you'll want to think about wire management as part of your installation planning. I used about a half-dozen nylon saddle mounts set in mollies in the drywall, with stainless steel screws. I then used small zip ties to fasten the wiring to the mounts for a clean installation. Overall very happy with the quality for this price point.
Hopefully a good investment. Time will tell.

I've had one house damaged by a leaking HW heater, and seen another severely damaged by an upstairs washer hose that let go while no one was home. (Can you say, "Waterfall Out The Front Door and $35,000 in Damage?")
I've installed two of these and another unit for the hot water heater as well. The motor driven valves definitely shut off the water, and when tested, the water sensors seem to work perfectly and activate the shut-off feature, just as they should. I guess I'll not really know for sure until the day I get a leak and they save my tail (or don't), but I'm pretty confident that one day these will pay off in real money saved in the way of averted damage. For now, the dividends are just in ongoing peace of mind.
Extremely easy install on the washer btw. The HW heater unit required sweat fitting into the 3/4" supply line, but also a piece of cake.
I will say that the supplied, adhesive backed Velcro pad, for attaching the control to the wall, was absolutely useless. With the batteries in it, the box is just too heavy and it just kept falling off the wall. Best to just put in the anchors and use the screws (Supplied with unit). Then it stays where it belongs.

Essential for 2nd Floor Laundry Rooms
Byron Harrison•August 1, 2016
For those of us with a second floor laundry room, this is a must have. I'd venture to say this is a must have with any laundry room after my experience.
This was an essential item for us when we remodeled our upstairs laundry. The previous configuration had no floor drain, and the room was above the garage. I was always wary and nervous of a leak, because there would be nothing to stop it if I wasn't home. When we remodeled, we installed a floor drain and added this appliance. Due to my lack of sleep (see note about installing floor drain) when I hooked the washer and dryer back up (we have a steam dryer that requires a water inlet from a Y on the cold supply) I forgot to check for the little rubber washer in the hose before turning on the supply. When it started spraying, it hit the detector almost immediately, and I had less than a 1/4 cup of water on the floor. Easy to wipe up with a towel. I didn't anticipate "testing" these until a catastrophe, but I was impressed at how well they worked.
If you have a steam dryer, the additional sensor is a good idea, though not entirely necessary. You could place the one included sensor in between your units, but just keep in mind that how ever long it takes water to reach the sensor, that's more time that it will take to shut off the supply.
All in all, thrilled with this product and have recommended it to everyone I've talked to about it.

Great solution to guard against flooding from washing machine related leaks
BurtB•October 7, 2015
The shut off valves for our washer had seized up due to hard water and the location of the valves meant having to remove the laundry tub to be able to replace them. Found that when changing the washer hoses.
So I killed two birds with one stone. By adding the Floodstop I took care of the stuck valves and covered the case of a broken water hose or washing machine leak. Plus the Floodstop automatically closes and opens the valves every 30 days to keep them limbered up.
I have a whole house Floodstop installed since there is no floor drain in the utility room. Going to add a relay to turn off the well pump in the event a leak should happen on the input side of the pressure tank.
Also going to add a relay to the washing machine Floodstop to turn off the power to the washing machine in the event a leak is detected.
