So glad I did away with my old tension-pole-style dog barrier and shelled out for this one instead. It stays put, doesn't rattle or make noise, isn't harming the interior of my 2015 Forester AT ALL, and fits perfectly. Plus, my dog can't get around it or knock it down, so I feel much more secure with this model in place. Five stars, for sure!

My dog (a big Banter Bulldogge, about 60lbs) learned how to use his blockhead to dislodge the old style one, knocking it over so he could jump into the back seat. I couldn't leave him in the car for ONE SECOND without him doing this, and sometimes he'd even try this while we were stopped at a light or parked. No good! Plus, the tension-pole design was crushing the roof lining of my Forester. And it was always rattling and clanging and creating distracting noises - even on smooth roads. Boo.

This Travall one installed easily - did it myself in about 20 min BEFORE coffee one morning, so that should tell you how easy it is. It doesn't rattle or make a noise at all, and I am really glad I went this route. Great product at a fair price.

I am good at assembling furniture, bookcases and other things, but this cargo barrier was a challenge just because of the directions! Now that it is in, I love it, rattle free and helps maintain the canine where he needs to be. I was unsure it fit the sides appropriately because it did not brace on the left and right sides in the exact same places. The directions do not indicate which side is in the front. Once I figured out the directions were wrong, things went a little smoother. The rods in the directions are pictured running through the strapping hooks along the side of the wheel hubs, for this to happen it would have to bend at a 40 degree angle, not happening. I installed the bars, hooking them to the lower strapping hooks. The next tricky part was the nut that keeps the tension, getting it in the right place required some fine motor skills. Those rods really needed to be held with a wrench or something. I emailed the company with pictures to be sure I installed it correctly, and they assured me that I had. I am please with the quality over all despite the installation issues. the barrier is sturdy, and has not budged once. Not sure how it bracing differently on the left versus right will affect any impact, and I hope I do not find out.
I wanted to make space for one crated dog in the boot and one belted dog in the back seat. I have a houdini Portuguese Water dog who is incredibly analytical. So far he is satisfied and has not tried to break his way out. My older dog stays in the back seat in a seat belt, and I often lift the cargo door when we are camping or at dog shows to give him air. Because of this I tried to push the gate out towards the cargo area, (in case he paws at it) and so far it is very sturdy and has not budged.

This is an awesome product, and unlike most others it does not ruin your headliner or leave other marks. I must say too, I am not sure what the people who say the installation is difficult and need to go to YouTube for the video are doing but for me it was actually a 2 minute install. I put all of the pieces together using the instructions to easily determine which way faced front in my forester. I left the knobs (4 knobs and bolts if I remember correctly) a little loose, I put it in place and tightened the knobs; that's it.
Now Odie remains in his seat when we are parked ( or eating a cheeseburger lol); he is comfy, safe, and secure.

I had a divider that was made by Subaru for my Forester, but regardless of how much force I put in it when putting it up, it was always falling down. This product is a vast improvement over the factory Subaru divider. It fits well and holds up to having weigh applied against it, and it's pretty simple to install.

So far, this is an excellent barrier. Our golden retriever broke through a different barrier, but not this one, and she hasn't tried. The barrier fits well and is relatively easy to install. As previous reviewers have said, the instructions are poor. They are only pictures and many of those look like they have been run through a copy machine too many times. They are better than nothing however.

Now it is 2 years after I wrote the above. I can't say enough good things about this gate. It is still working great in our 2015 Subaru Forester. Our dog quickly got used to it being there. Despite her sometimes being anxious is the car, she settles down quickly. Today while driving for more than an hour in rush hour traffic and pouring rain, she was laying down and either sleeping or calm the entire time. This allows me to concentrate on driving with no distractions. We have the back cargo area covered with a quilted pad and 2 layers of fleece just for her. This gate is definitely worth the price. The gate and parts of the car it contacts or rests on are still in great shape.
