I'm impressed with the unit itself and the company that sells it.

My home has a large, double - sided wood burning fireplace. As I have aged gracefully, I find that I don't really want to haul in wood and deal with the ashes. A friend recommended this. I got it, installed it, and I am very pleased with it.
I will not be using the heater part of it , but I do like the realistic flames and glowing coals.
The customer service is very good also. I emailed the seller with a couple of questions, and they responded very rapidly and with the right information.

I highly recommend this to everyone!
It looks nice when it’s turned off

Fits well in the space we build for it. It looks nice when it's turned off. Not impressed with how fake the "flames" look and disappointed that it doesn't put out very much heat at all.

When my first PuraFlame 26" electric insert arrived as promised, it had a perfect outer box but the inner box was crushed on one side. At first glance everything looked fine so we installed the insert. Very easy to do. Unfortunately, the insert wouldn't turn on. Then I noticed a small piece of a log end was broken and lodged against the grate. After a few emails and pictures, the company gave me a full refund. I was pleased with the customer service and product so I reordered and the new insert slipped right into the surround and worked perfectly. It's a nice little insert for the price. Customer service everything I hoped it should be.
pretty good for the price

Hope this helps others- I like to get as much info as possible when buying something like this.
Was in the market for an electric fireplace insert for the first floor back room of a townhouse that had no shot of a wood burner option, and a gasser would have been possible only through some substantial and very expensive alterations. I had looked at some rather expensive options, such as the top shelf units offered by a company that rhymes with shmimplex... they looked pretty solid but the pricing was quite hefty. I came across this unit while searching and it 'appeared' pretty good via pics and reviews, (also, I emailed and harassed the company for a vid of operation- something missing in all of their marketing material). I decided to give it a shot based on the vid (included below) that was sent; the flame effect looked pretty good *for an electric*.
Good stuff:
It showed up rather well packaged, and without any visible damage.
Dimensions were as posted and slid right into the cutout I had prepped in the fireplace surround.
It's pretty straightforward; 3 flame settings- high, high with more colors, and low.
The blower heater is something like having a hair dryer blowing warm air on you, not too bad.
The logset looks pretty good as long as you don't try to jam your face up against it.
The flame effect looks pretty nice and is accurately portrayed by the vid from the company; it's actually better than I had expected. You're not likely to fool anyone into thinking it's real flame, but bang for the buck this is probably one of the best out there.

Things to note:
I tried to get a pic of the fireplace's backdrop scene (but the plexi cover proved to be too reflective); for some reason I had thought it was a textured brick backdrop, it's actually a flat print. Would have preferred the few extra bucks for an actual brick textured background in there. Not a game changer, but it's not clearly shown elsewhere.
The blower draws air from the back of the unit to force it through the horizontal slot on the front; this means you need to design your enclosure with a source of air and sufficient clearance in the back- in my case, it's not visible but the dark equipment shelf above the fireplace was actually cut back to allow air down into the fireplace. no big deal.
Close to perfect.

I so badly want to give this five stars... but I just can't. The package was delivered on time, the packing material was right and contained everything it should have. I was able to remove it from the box, plug it in and start it right up! That is when I noticed the fire effects were jumping around and the internals were making a clunking noise. Instead of returning it, I decided to DIY the fix, since I had already put in a weeks worth of work on building the corner fireplace surround from the ground up! Thankfully, I found that the front trim and glass pain can be separated from the rest of the box by removing a dozen screws around the edge of the back. Once that was off, I was able to remove the log set, and found that the flame effect rolling mechanism behind the logs had dislodged from it's mount. I was able to put it back in its groove, replace the logs and reinstall the front trim and glass, and now it works like a charm!

The visual effects are great, I prefer the 2nd setting without the blue led's, and we are extremely happy with how it performs.
