Great Image - Bad Nuts
Chad P.•October 6, 2017
I was pleasently surprised by the clarity of the image provided by this camera. There are two clippable wires that allow you to either reverse the image (I would use the headunit to do that, if needed) and to remove the guidelines (if using for front mount, I suppose). The design of this camera allows it to be used in the above-license plate sill making a very inconspicuous factory-ish look. My only complaint and the reason for a one star reduction is that the nut the camera ships with is comically oversized for the thread of the camera. I can't say with certainty what the correct size would've been - I found a flare nut in my stash that worked best that was only *kind* of loose - but the one the camera shipped wasn't even tightenable.
Narrow angle, cold weather static
Buzzer•September 20, 2017
This is a decent camera. However, I can confirm that the angle is narrow, approx 90-100 degree field of view. Not very useful for backing out of a parking spot.
Also in the winter, the image messes up... As if a color inversion transform xor'd with static happened... You can see outlines of shapes but it's totally messed up. Once the weather warms up, the image problems disappear. (See attached picture)
I will probably replace this with a wider angle camera (installed on my GF's car as a gift) if I can't find another cheap lens to replace this one.
This winter I'll take a picture to show the "static" if I haven't replaced it yet. (Edit: updated with picture)
Basically my GF likes it a lot, paired with a 7" Android head unit, for spring through fall. Winter is iffy. She hasn't hit anyone yet when driving in reverse.

Installed this on my wife's 2013 Subaru Outback. It feeds into a Pioneer AVHX3800BHS head unit and works well. I messed up and fed power to the camera using the backup lights. This causes a very slight delay while the camera turns on. Basically when you put the car in reverse the radio triggers to display the backup camera using a signal from the backup lights. At the same time the backup lights turn on the camera but it takes a second for it to turn on. If I were to install this again I would send power to the camera any time the car is running so that the radio displays the image right away when it is put in reverse.
You get what you pay for so don't expect it to function

What a pain. I installed the camera with much help from youtube as the directions are just poor. I finally got it all in and no picture. Bummer! Checked all connections and they are strong. Checked to make sure ground was good and 12V power was good and they were fine. Started to take everything apart and caught a glimpse of a picture on my monitor. I thought I may have had a loose connection and putting it back together had fixed it. Took all connections apart and put them back together. No luck. Started to move around wires and found the problem. The connection where the video cable, the power, and the ground come together at a molded plastic inline connection is poor and will temporarily make contact when the wires are moved around. I also couldn't get the rearview lines to clear when I did have the picture even though I have both wires cut as stated in the product description. Have sent an email to the seller and will see what they say about it. I will gladly edit this review if they can fix the problem but right now this thing gets a single star and I would give it zero if possible.
Update: 3/20/2017 - Contacted seller about the cable that is defective. They responded within two days and offered me a new video cable (not the issue). I have sent them more information and am waiting to hear back as the power cable is obviously faulty and I am unsure about the back up lines as it seems that they just won't go away. Product is still poor quality but I have added a star for the seller being willing to fix the problems.
Update: 3/21/2017 - Seller responded again but wanted to walk me through troubleshooting the back up camera lines. Not all that easy when the power cable is defective and I can't keep power on to the camera without holding the cable a certain way so that the wires make contact. I made this quite clear in the email I sent and even sent a picture of the defective cable so they would know what the issue was. Really frustrated with the whole experience.

Amazing camera for the price

Purchased this camera and installed on a Camry. It is very easy to wire and with the right tools I was able to mount it right above the license plate. It kind of gives the look of a dealer installed camera. The resolution on this camera is pretty good and it works well at night even with no IR lights. It feels heavy and solid and looks like it was built with quality. The camera automatically displays distances bars on the video. I am truly happy with this purchase.
