This is the original BBQ sauce we grew up on. Was looking to buy a barbeque sauce for the summer and noted the ingredients. Check out the first ingredient:

High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, Distilled Vinegar, Tomato Puree [Water, Tomato Paste], Salt, Food Starch-Modified. Contains 2% or less of: Soybean Oil, Sauce Blend (Water, Hydrolyzed Corn and Soy Protein, Salt), Spice, Onion Powder, Dehydrated Garlic, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Caramel Color, Colored with (Yellow 6, Red 40, Titanium Dioxide, Blue 1).

Nutritionists recommend that you stay away from high fructose corn syrup. Why?

Here's what scientists find:

"High doses of free fructose have been proven to literally punch holes in the intestinal lining allowing nasty byproducts of toxic gut bacteria and partially digested food proteins to enter your blood stream and trigger the inflammation that we know is at the root of obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, dementia, and accelerated aging. Naturally occurring fructose in fruit is part of a complex of nutrients and fiber that doesn't exhibit the same biological effects as the free high fructose doses found in "corn sugar"."

Found Stubbs BBQ sauce here on Amazon which doesn't use High Fructose Corn Syrup as an ingredient which is very tasty. It would be great if Open Pit would come out with a healthier version of their BBQ sauce which didn't involve high fructose corn syrup as a primary ingredient. Like the flavor of their sauce and would buy a healthier version of it.
