I bought this for my brother, a martial arts instructor, and he swears by it for building hand strength.
There were just a few problems that annoyed me. 1) The handles didn't squeeze completely together

Right our of the box I gave it a 3 star. There were just a few problems that annoyed me.
1) The handles didn't squeeze completely together, there was a 5/16 gap
2) The action or the feeling when squeezing and releasing was sticky, turned out the powder coat was too thick and made the action stiff and sticky
To correct things:
1) I took the unit apart, real easy once the springs are off the pin will fall out, then I took a small 1/4 round file and filed down the area in the fork by the pin that was hitting the outer handle and wouldn't let the grip completely close. Took only a minute to correct that.
2) The I filed off some of the powder coat around the hinged area.
These two things made it much more enjoyable to operate. There just something about a nice smooth action that just makes it 'feel' better. So after correcting those two small imperfections which would be really easy if the factory applied a small amount of quality control, upgraded it to a 5 star for me.
Also, I would be scared to death meeting up with the man or woman that can squeeze this with the 4 springs attached!!
