I used my Black Kyocera ceramic knife almost every day for 2 years. It finally became almost too dull to cut. Pulled the knife about 5 times each side through the coarse and then 5 times through the honing slots. The knife was not factory sharp but very very sharp. I honed it three more time and it slices great. The sharpener did very well but you have to pull the knives through slowly with very light pressure.

I had bought another brand meant for ceramic knives last year which just didn't work. It didn't sharpen the whole length of the blade and didn't remove nicks like it said it would. I noticed that it stopped sharpening and figured it needed a new wheel, but instead of buying a replacement I thought I would try a new sharpener. This one seems to actually work, it sharpens the whole length of the blades on all of the knives that I have and has taken out small nicks and has helped smooth out the jagged end of one knife that I broke a few months ago. I am not sure I am getting the best edge yet but I may be using too heavy a hand on the fine end of the sharpener, and I think if I practice some more I can get a sharper edge. This sharpener is also about $10.00 less that the first one I bought. I'm happy with the performance so far.

actually works as advertised. you must hold the blade horizontal to connect to the stones as any tilt up or down will miss the stones. restored my ceramic blade to perfection and the steel blades to razors. it's not quick but quite fine.. made 12 passes to restore my older dull knives.
