The fins are really nicely made. They are a soft silicone which mimics an extended foot. They are very short, actually too short for me and they run small in size (no reason for taking off stars). I wear a mens 12 and the 11-12 is too short.

I purchased these for swimming laps and adding resistance for leg training. I wear a size 14 wide shoe in the 14/15 fits very snug but is comfortable. The bright yellow color is nice for general beach swimming in case you lose one and have to go look for it.
Would definitely recommend this product for pool swimming. For mild open water swimming they would work, but if you're going to swim long distances in choppy water. He would probably want a bigger fin. Definitely would buy again if I needed them.
