App on phone is not reliable
SBTJune 27, 2017
I wanted to be able to let UPS/FedEx into my office while I'm out. The app has been working worse over the last several months. It also is dependent on an external server, the app does not directly talk with the door bell it's relayed thru the app developers system. would be much more useful/reliable if you could setup a port forward and have the app talk directly with the door bell, eliminating any reliance on a third party.
Disappointed in product operation
B. KedMay 9, 2017
I really wanted to like this product. I wanted an intercom for my front gate that I could access remotely with my phone. Unfortunately the product never really worked as advertised. I eventually got it setup through much trial and error with the help of tech support. Unfortunately the communication between the intercom and other devices was sporadic at best. The only thing that ever really worked was the camera which I can access through the app. The call button only worked sporadically for awhile and now not at all. It is not possible to call a device with the button and the intercom function sound does not seem to work. Not a product I could recommend unless there is a change to firmware that would resolve these issues.
My main purpose of the VDF is to get call, when I am not home, but it doesn't work always
Sandip Kumar DevnathMay 5, 2017
Whenever someone rings the bell. My home's bell rings using it's built in relay, that is not an issue. However my Android pad/phone as well as ipad's app doesn't notify it (I have latest Andoid as well as IOS updates on these). I need to keep the app running at foreground also if the screen is not locked, then only I get notification, else not at all. I installed Controcam on my Androd phone (nexus-6), same issue. I installed latest controlcam app, same issue. I tried enabling all alert etc for the app. Following are my all experiment. It will be great if it can work with my nexus7 pad and nexus6 phone.

* Nexus 6 (motorola) Android 7(patch level april 1st 2017) - I can connect the VDP, I can get the call also, if application is open and running in foreground with display on. However as soon as I press power button and display is off, no matter what is ControlCam status, I don't get call.
* Nexus-7 pad - Android 6.0.1 (Patch level Aug 5th 2016) - I can connect the VDP, I can get the call also, if application is open and running in foreground with display on. However as soon as I press power button and display is off, no matter what is ControlCam status, I don't get call.
* ipad-2 - I can connect my VDP camera, however I don't get calls, when some one rings the bell
* Micromax Funbook Infinity P275(Android 4.04). The app doesn't connect the camera, It crashes.
* I tried LG G3 Beat (Android version 5.0.2) - works perfect
* Redmi-Note-3 Android phone 16GB, 2GB RAM, Hexa-core max1.8ghZ (Android 5.1.1 LMY47V) - I can connect the VDP, I can get the call also, if application is open and running in foreground with display on. However as I press power button and display is off, no matter what is ControlCam status, I don't get call.
My search for the perfect camera doorbell still continues
ALOctober 5, 2016
UPDATED REVIEW 10/10/16:

I've been on the hunt for a while now for a camera doorbell. Since I a not willing to rely on cloud service completely, especially from young companies who may or may not exist a year or two from now, I am searching for a doorbell with standard support for RTSP or ONVIF standards which will be able to connect to my camera management app (TinyCam) which allows me to record video to cloud services such as Google Drive. That way if I don't like the doorbell app or the service is not reliable, I can use my own solution with the hardware.

So Iv'e been trying few products with no success. Most of them are either cheaply made with horrible app support, don't have reliable connection etc.

Here is another try:

The doorbell is pretty expensive for a non brand product so my hopes were high. I ended up returning it because the cons were greater than the pluses for me.

Plus:
+ The build quality does not disappoint. This thing is made from hard metal, either Aluminum or some other stainless metal. It looks great.
+ Connection through hardwired Ethernet cable is stable
+ Initial setup through the mobile app is simple if you remember to disconnect your mobile data.
+ picture through web interface is good.
+ if you manage to setup motion alarms through the web interface and reduce the sensitivity it is relatively reliable
+ response time from the time someone presses the doorbell or when it discovers movement to the time the app rings is reasonable.
+if you setup email forwarding through the web interface it is being delivered very quickly once an alarm is triggered.

Cons:
- I initially set the bell through wifi. I could not get it to connect to my phone until I disconnected my mobile data during setup. Only then it connected. Instructions should add this step.
- I felt that the wifi connection was not reliable even though I measured over 100mbs of data speed to the device. I reset it and connected via Ethernet and it worked fine.
- the app is very very basic. It pretty much alerts you when someone rings the bell and let you connect to the stream. You cannot set the alarm from the app or any other settings. Even worse, the web interface, which is required if you want more than the basic doorbell push alert, only works on the ancient internet explorer, and even then you have to download an active x control. No luck for Chrome, Mac users or even those who want to use Microsoft Edge. My understanding from tech support that this is not going to change.
- the web interface and some app settings are very difficult to understand. This is probably due to the poor translation from Chines.
- Note that the doorbell seems to be a generic brand (even though high quality) as I noticed just recently that the same bell being sold under a completely different brand with the same app and all. This means that as nice as the people in the tech support are (and they are nice and trying to help, they will probably have little control on changes to the software.
- my doorbell didn't support ONVIF and RTSP so I could only use it with the app - that defeated the purpose of my purchase. For the price I paid for it, if all I have is the cloud service, I might as well just buy Ring which has much better track record and is easier to operate. According to tech support this is a firmware issue and they suggested I roll to an older or newer firmware. However, the firmware upgrade require using a special software and no matter what I did I could not get it to work. This means that unless they find another solution you are locked into the specific firmware, with no ability to update the software to a newer version, which I find as a huge problem - no simple way to get security updates and no error correction.
- you could only set a 4 digit password for the app access. I think this is a security issue which made me worried about the other possible security holes which may exist.
- although the picture is HD and it looks great via the main stream on the web interface, the sub-stream that shows on the mobile app is set to a low resolution. I increased the resolution and it looks better.

Support is being provided by a single individual from Canada. He is very nice but he simply does not have time to be available at convenient times so you need to rely on email support mostly and wait for him to call you, sometimes at times which are not very convenient. Tech support should be available when you need it during setup.

Although I think the hardware is top-notch and that this doorbell has a lot of potential, it is still not ready for prime time from software perspective and is very expensive for a beta product.
Does the job and looks like the only product that supports door unlocking
BnkJuly 28, 2016
Pros
--------
1. Does the job as described!
2. Does not disconnect from the network (i.e. reliable).
3. Picture quality is ok (i.e not HD but enough).
4. Nice night led lights.
5. Good voice quality.
6. Option to connect old bell.
7. Option for wired or WiFi network. Both work!
8. Very good looking panel!
9. Support for 'always locked' or 'always opened' locks.

Cons
--------
1. Configuration is a little bulky and not enough through the android app (for the keypad product, most of the programming done through the keypad rather than with the android app).
2. No option to connect regular intercom wired headsets/monitors (i.e. to have both on the wall and on the phone).
3. No option to change the ringing sound (although nice).
4. Added wiring document are not enough!
5. Application needs to be much improved, especially for configuration.
