So good looking!
Turquoise FanOctober 21, 2017
This was a gift for my grandson's 11th birthday. I had asked my son for ideas and he said his son liked model cars size 1:18. My grandson said he had wanted this for years! Such a rewarding 'thank you'! I decided on this one from the reviews. Another brand had comments that the doors fell off. When this arrived, nicely packaged so it was perfect, I was impressed by how nice it looked. I hoped for red and we got red. Maybe all the Ferrari models are red?

If you want to own a red 1/18 LaFerrari, you have several options. Firs, there is this Race&Play model here by Bburago, where for the price there's lots to offer: opening doors, bonnet, and rear engine cover; front wheels that can swivel side to side with the steering wheel also corresponding to this; rotating brake discs while brake calipers remain stationary; the Ferrari coat of arms emblazoned on both car sides, on the steering wheel and a silver Ferrari logo above the rear spoiler, as well as on both detailed engine blocks ...there is everything here that defines the LaFerrari.

Then you have the Bburago Signature Edition for about twice the price, which is the same die-cast model, with a few differences regarding packaging and paint detailing. First, the Race&Play packaging with the transparent "window" is replaced by a more elegant, non-transparent box with styrofoam packaging. The model itself has more details in the interior, e.g. on the steering wheel white symbols and colored buttons stand out. The seats are trimmed with black lines and dashboard is now no longer entirely black but contrasted with orange, like in the 1/24 model. This orange trim also applies to the luggage compartment at the front. The black brake calipers have been swapped for red ones, and the entire inside of the rear engine cover is now held in carbon fiber look. Whether these fine paint additions are worth a double in purchase price, you have to decide for yourself.

Then there is the regular Hot Wheels LaFerrari, sometimes called the Hot Wheels Foundation or Hot Wheels Heritage, which is also in the Bburago Signature price range. This LaFerrari has better looking front lights, and comes with door windows and more detailed exhaust tips. But there are no Ferrari logos on the brake calipers, also no LaFerrari license plate at the rear, the interior looks even worse than a Bburago Race&Play, let alone Signature, and both bonnet as well as rear engine cover can NOT be opened. In addition, the engine visible through the engine cover window is significantly less detailed than the engine of the Bburago.

Finally, there is the Hot Wheels Elite LaFerrari, which costs more than twice a Bburago Signature / Hot Wheels Foundation, and is thus about five times as expensive as the Bburago Race&Play (in yellow or matt black version it is only four times as expensive), excluding additional shipping costs. However, this model is much more detailed: it comes with all the advantages of the Foundation LaFerrari (better head lights, side window panels, more detailed exhaust tips), plus the Bburago Race&Play (everything can be opened, Ferrari logos on the brake calipers, detailed interior) as well as Bburago Signature, and has an even higher level of detail, e.g. everywhere you have perforated grills, thinner cables around the engine; and the rear spoiler can be extended, but the panel gap between the rear car body and the rear engine cover is also larger.

Then there is BBR LaFerrari, but that costs several times the price of the Hot Wheels Elite and the doors cannot be opened, just the rear, therefore this is a waste of money.

To the disadvantages of the Bburago Race&Play LaFerrari I have to say that you should expect on average two small paint chips / splotches on the model. And when you look at the bottom of the model, you'll notice that the front and rear wheels are not parallel to each other, but are bent inwards / outwards, but this isnt normally visible, except, as mentioned, if you look at the model from below.

Overall, I can say: the more money you spend, the more quality you get. But if most of this isn't visible on first glance (especially when the model sits in the display, which will anyway be the case with the higher-value ones), the question arises as to when the bang-per-buck ratio was exceeded and unnecessary amounts of money were thrown out of the window - money which would have gotten you several more model cars? :) The Race&Play LaFerrari looks, and is, a fantastic dreamcar, only here the value for the money you spend is perfect (also compared to the 1/24, which costs a third less, but is also a third smaller AND where the doors and bonnet no longer open), therefore a clear purchase recommendation for those, who dont have an unlimited budget and still want to collect many other models!
Beautiful car

Beautiful car. Very details. And remember, once awhile you must wipe of the dust, just the like real one.
