Dissapointing all around

Ordered this with quick shipping for complex shoulder surgery this week. Arrived on time-thanks Amazon for being consistent with that for prime members. Read the instructions card it came with(which mentions nothing) and recalled when reading the reviews the issue I was faced with upon opening-how to get it to open for ice.

The ice bag is a very thin latex material and was very stuck on itself-almost as if melted .I put it in the sink with warm water and slowly began opening it up for the first time so I could even get ice in it-it was not one of those add ice and wait to expand items-it felt very fragile. As I was very carefully running it under warm water and slowly unsticking it from itself (about 50%) it tore right down the middle. Even after ripping I couldn't separate the sections that were stuck.

The hole in the strap is also quite small for the ice bag lid to fit. So small that with my weakened right arm and lack of steel fingers on my non dominant hand I could not get it to fit in there-the sizes are very discordant. When I am recovering from surgery later this week I will not be able to put it in the compression garment alone.

So now for my final rub,
The price point on this was no small deal for someone making what I do an hour-and I ordered the SPORT because the only difference I could see was one bag is 8*8 inches and one is 10*10. I am a smaller build and feared the larger one would also be too big-but also just wasn't worth another $30. I really thought I was getting the best. And I needed it. The other shoulder strap type compresses I've seen are more like holders for loose ice and this seemed like a system that might work well together (compression and ice snug).

So here I am now two days pre op (arrived today) and went to order a replacement-and they're out of stock..so now I have to pay the $30 more anyways for the PRO-which I didn't want just to ensure it can arrive in time for my home coming from the hospital. And hope it doesn't rip and hope it fits my smaller build.

I will post another review when I receive the PRO and actually get to the putting ice in it stage---if I do.
If I don't...I'll be trying some of the other products out there. The only thing that was clearly higher quality construction is the compression wrap itself. But knowing what manufacturing costs the markup on this is HUGE and I hoped it meant quality---now I'm skeptical. But still hopeful, I really wanted this to work so I am trying one more time.

Sturdy enough main part, but the ice bag is flimsy material and arrived with tears. I kept is as I had other ice bags that fit. Still, come on...
Great solution, wish the price wasn't so high...

Bought this at a local sporting goods store. While material wise I don't think it is worth $70, it is a much better solution than trying to ace bandage an ice pack to your shoulder.

I have some mild tendonitis in my right shoulder that flares from weight lifting, leaving my right (dominant) arm weaker than my left. I wanted something that I could use daily to ice down after the gym without being forced to sit on the couch for 30 min. There are cheaper (and ambidextrous) options out there but they all used gel packs. I've never been a fan of reusable gel packs, they seem to not get as cold plus you can't just pop a new one in if the old one thaws.

The fit on this unit is pretty solid. I had a hard time figuring out the difference between this one and the $100 one made by the same company other than the material it is made out of (the other seems to be a sort of fabric where this seems like neoprene). Material doesn't matter since the ice pack/bag sits directly onto your shoulder. The other unit might have had a bigger ice bag but couldn't really tell. Still wasn't worth an additional $30 to me.

One word of caution... I will agree that the bag is VERY thin but you shouldn't have any issues with tearing if you don't try to pull it apart. Mine came almost vacuum packed but I just opened the cap and added water until it expanded. I expect people that rep them are trying to separate the bag by hand.

The fact that it is "designed" left/right is definitely an engineering gimmick. They could have made the bag more centralized and designed it to fit both sides (like others do). In my case, I never have problems with my left shoulder and I assume most buyers are in similar situations.
Excellent product

This product is excellent. It got so cold I couldn't wear it with just my shirt on, I also needed a towel just so it was bare able. Very easy to wear. Highly recommend.
