Assembly a little weird
fulmin8r✓ Verified Purchase•January 24, 2024
Good carrier, very sturdy, assembly is straight forward, except how many people have metric hex wrenches? Also, why are some of the nuts/screws standard and others metric? Some of the pre-drilled holes did not line up well, so I did have difficulty getting one of the screws in. Otherwise, came together fine and will do the job for a good price. Got it on prime day and got a few more points on my Prime Visa!
Reinforce the tie-down holes.

The product is great and light weight. I had to reinforce the tie-down holes, due to the aluminum ripped under pressure. I wanted this cargo tray because the sides are short. That makes it easier to lift items over the edges.
You can buy flat stock steel from a big box hardware store. I used a step down drill bit and riveted to the cargo tray. Problem solved.
Works fantastic now"¦
Also buy a stabilizer bracket, it will keep it from flopping side to side. Well worth the extra $20.

Arrived Dented

Unfortunately I need this for a trip this week or I would send it back. It arrived with a dent in one of the support bars, there was no damage to the box that would have indicated that it was damaged in shipping. It is not in an area that can be seen, but it still shouldn't be that way

Great value

For the price, a great deal. Carrier is lightweight, easy to handle and was a snap to assemble--just a few bolts and screws. Maybe 10 minutes. On a Tahoe, it mounts quickly and is at the perfect height--still able to open tailgate if carrier is unloaded, and it sits well out of range of the exhaust (though other reviews point out that this is NOT true for other vehicles). I did use an inexpensive hitch tightener (WOFTD Hitch Tightener on Amazon) which was essential in my opinion.
Was quite secure with a load of about 90 lbs. Tie down options are limited to just four drilled out holes in the frame, but was able to use three ratchet tie-downs using the four holes, and wrapping under to catch one of the crossbars for the third, so no worries about load shifting.
Only negative, the aluminum tray is pretty easily bent. I have a moderate, roughly 1", dent on one side, and I'm not even sure when it happened. Doesn't take a big impact to make a dent. But overall, I'd take that in return for the light weight and the low price. If I were constantly hauling stuff on a hitch carrier, I'd probably spring for a more expensive steel carrier. But for a few times a year, this is just fine. Overall, zero regrets over this purchase.
