Don't buy it, inferior LDF type product, not solid "Siam oak"
Bruno GoncalvesAugust 27, 2017
Bought this from sweetwater but wanted to review it here in better inform anyone thinking of purchasing this.... day one after setup this was awesome not really a snare but sort of a block with a little extra zing.... anyway it broke in half across the whole circumference (see pics) within a week of playing it, I decided I'd fix it with some wood glue and now that it was accessible I removed the snare so I could use it as a block (& bought a piccolo snare instead) again this thing was awesome like a deeper sounding block (a Tom sound with out the resonance is the best explanation), I loved it and then guess what???broke across the circumference (see pic) again !!!
Now I was disappointed in it from the moment I seen the wood it was made from (1st time it broke) it looks like cheap fiberboard (see pics) so I did some research it says it's Siam oak which I could find much info on but eventually I found it to be rubber wood (aka Hevea brasiliensis) but this isn't solid, it's perhaps a "rubberwood" fiber board but I'll call it chewed up cheap wood glued/pressed together. Also I pretty much only used the bamboo meinl rods I also used some vater acoustick v. plastic rods (for cajons) and I play light (neighbors) & the only one to ever play this thing is my 4 yo... it does chip pretty (see pics) easy but that doesn't effect sound but braking in half most definitely does
[TLDR] FYI I really wanted to like this but it's a let down and last thing you want is to be let down at a gig
TERRIBLE PRODUCTION MEINL

Don't bother purchasing this. The look (aside from the image provided) makes you believe that the top and bottom of this are thick and durable.

Nope.

2 months and it cracked down the middle. Only used cajon sticks to play with and very lightly for an acoustic service at church.

2 months = 8-9 services for 30 minutes. That's honestly less than 12 hours.... TERRIBLE PRODUCTION MEINL!
Not very good...

Unfortunately, this thing is junk. I've had two of them. First one came with my Meinl Cajon Drum Set and was split down the middle during shipping, so I bought a replacement. The replacement arrived intact but then started to split down the side in a couple of days. I don't play hard and I usually play with some kind of brush, never sticks. The sound is okay, but if you want a snare for your Cajon drum-set, go with LP's new 10-inch snare Cajon, the round one. It sounds great with the rest of the Meinl Cajon drum kit.
Five Stars

Amazing snare for a cajon kit...till it broke. Snapped right in two during the second set of a gig. Amazon is accepting the return luckily. I was playing w the Meinl cajon sticks referenced in the description.
