My 3rd Greenworks tool and review
Marvin Simms✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 26, 2018
I bought this 80V blower, trimmer, battery and charger on an Amazon one day sale in August, 2017 or thereabout. The price was awesome, delivery and set up were fine. Now that I've finished leaf blowing season here in central VA I have a good feel for what this thing will do. To set the stage, my house is in the middle of 4 acres with the house and yard completely surrounded by hardwood trees. Lots of leaves. I use this blower to clear about 240 feet of gutter, 1,200+ square feet of roof, 1,000+ square feet of deck, 1,000+ square feet of patio, sidewalk and carport. All of the above involves moving an extension ladder to 6 different locations so I can get on the roof of Florida room, porches, workshop and garage. With all those leaves now on the ground along with what started on the ground, the real fun begins. The driveway is 200+ feet and about 5 cars wide near the house. I blow those leaves away from the house into the woods. In the yard near the house where so many leaves are accumulated, I blow them in a direction, blow out a rectangle the size of a tarp. Lay the tarp down and blow leaves onto it from all sides. I have to finish that part with some raking. Once the heavy stuff is gone, I vacuum the rest with a lawn tractor/bagger. In total, this is a 5 to 6 hour job at least once a week during prime leaf time. Now to the blower.

I am quite satisfied with the power. It clears gutters with no problem. The easy stuff like roof, deck, walkways, etc any blower will do. Then on the ground, I find this blower will continue to move a pile of dry leaves up to about 18 inches high. That is comparable to my experience with corded blowers and not too far behind gas though I haven't used one of those in 15 years or so.. Compared to corded blowers, it's wonderful not to drag a cord up and down the ladder or across the roof (and safer). Also great when making the loop around the tarp. And I'm very happy not to drag out 200 feet of extension cord to get to the end of the driveway. So why not 5 stars. Battery life. With continued use, like up and down my driveway, the battery is spent in 13 minutes. So even with 2 (2AH) batteries (the first one I got with the chainsaw almost 2 years ago) there are times I'm dead in the water waiting for one to finish charging. Despite this shortcoming, not fooling with an extension cord(s) is great and it has saved some time despite the occasional wait.

Now, I'm not an engineer but.......The chainsaw meets a lot of resistance chewing though a piece of hardwood yet I'm quite satisfied with the amount of wood I cut with one battery charge. The trimmer meets resistance cutting grass and weeds not to mention slapping up against walls, walkways, edging, posts, fencing, tree trunks, etc. yet I'm also satisfied with the amount of trimming I get done with a single charge. Since there is no resistance to the blower, I expected it would do even better. So I don't understand the 13 minute drain of the battery. That's the most disappointing aspect for me and the reason for 4 stars.
A useful blower but it can also be a fun toy at the same time.

I use this thing all the time. It has lots of power, is not too loud, is not too heavy, and most of all it does not put off any gas smell. I use this blower to clean out inside of my house, outside (of course), dry my car, blow air at the kids(for fun), clean spider webs from hard to reach places, etc. The most important thing is that it blows clean air without gas/oil/smoke so it can be used indoors in the garage, to clean the car, inside the house, and on the car (to dry it). These things can not be done with a gas blower. It is also much easier to use than a gas blower. (no messing with starting, spark plugs, mixing oil in the gas, buying gas at gas station, buying oil mix...just goes on and on) It is also pretty quiet so I can use it at 8am on the weekend without annoying my neighbors.

This is one of my best buys. I would give it 6 stars if I could. I have been using it for about 6 months.
Very effective and relatively quiet!

I have been using this for over a month now and like it more and more as I get more experience to use it more effectively. I already had two batteries from a Kobalt string trimmer. The GreenWorks tools are identical except for the groove locations in the batteries and tools - they are offset from each other by a fraction of an inch so that they are not readily interchangeable but the Kobalt tools and batteries cost much more than the GreenWorks equivalents which I learned only after starting with the Kobalt string trimmer. So I just cut matching grooves in the batteries so that they are interchangeable in either charger or tool brand - it was easy using my table saw. I was always the guy who hated to hear the neighbors blowing off the driveway and sidewalk with a loud blower while I used a rake - well now I use this blower very often because it is VERY effective and not nearly as loud as the neighbors' blowers. If they had been using one of these, I would have had a much better opinion of blowers a long time ago. Highly recommend this tool!
As good as cordless blower can get

This cordless blower is good, but not great. I would give it a 4.5 if I could. It's about as powerful as my 20 year old cheap corded blower. So for me, I like it and would buy again due to the cordless convenience. But, I was expecting just a little more power based on other reviews. It is quieter than my old corded blower and the air stream produced is much more precise so more useful. I was able to blow very wet maple spinners off a deck with ease, but seemed like the air stream is not that wide, so it took a few more back and forth swipes than usual. It's definitely not a toy and is relatively heavier than my old corded blower. The build is solid. I like it and would recommend to a home owner with medium strength deck, driveway, and garage expectations. Would not use in yard for fall leaves. May try with gutter cleaning, but the heavier weight could be an issue.
Superb

This is my first battery operated blower, which I avoided for years because of reviews saying they were under-powered and/or had super short run times. I'm here to tell you that this has neither of the problems, at least for my uses. This blower has been nothing short of superb so far.

I bought my first blower about 17 years ago when I bought my house here in Tucson. I have a rock yard with mesquite trees and other bushes, and the rocks/driveway/sidewalk get absolutely covered in pollen (happening right now) and small leaves at times in the year. A lawn vac does a better job of cleaning and I went that route for years, but I get totally covered in dirt when using a vac, and they are harder to lug around. A blower does a decent job while leaving me relatively clean.

I hate gas blowers (get to listen to the pros use them at neighbors homes and hate the loud noise and smell) and have been using corded blowers, mostly from Black and Decker. However, it takes me a good five minutes or more just to get the cords out and plugged in to get ready to start, and then the cords sometimes get in the way and usually make me backtrack around bushes.

Enter this superb blower. Wow. Just wow. It's significantly quieter than my corded blowers, and compared to gas - forget about it. This thing is quieter as I'm holding it than the gas blower the landscaper uses when he's half a block away. In fact, I was so excited when it first showed up on a Sunday afternoon that I immediately unpacked it (which took all of about a minute because there's only two pieces) and started using it with the 80V battery that I already had, and it didn't occur to me until later in the day that I hadn't put in my earplugs. It's not _silent_, for sure, but it's a heck of lot quieter than I'm used to.

Performance is plenty good for me. It has three main settings (low, medium, high), and then you can further tailor the air flow by how much you depress the trigger. I'm lazy and just pull the trigger all of the way back. On low, it makes quick work of pollen and tree litter on concrete such as my driveway and sidewalk - soooo much faster and easier than sweeping like I've done for years, and quiet enough that I can do it before I leave for work and not be "that guy" who wakes up the neighborhood. On medium, it works great blowing off the rocks in my main yard. It's so powerful on medium that (like my other blowers) I need to be careful not to blow the rocks around. On high...well, I hardly ever go there because it's so strong, but I think that you'll be pleased. I was pretty stunned at the air flow on high, and it forced my arm back the first time because I wasn't ready for it.

Run times are very impressive using my 2A battery. I haven't actually timed myself, but I've blown off my yard twice on weekends so far and blown off my concrete daily. I always try to keep my blowing under an hour on weekends because, again, I don't want to be "that" guy. I probably used it for about twenty minutes at a time switching between medium and low, and my battery still lit up two out of the three indicator lights. I certainly might have used it longer, but I'm trying not to exaggerate.

The ease of use is simply amazing compared to my corded models. Before work, I can just grab it, push the on button, walk out to spend about a minute blowing off the driveway and sidewalk, turn it off, and set it back down in my garage. Done. The fact that it's faster to use this than to grab my broom is fantastic to me.

This is my fifth GreenWorks product (and I'm overall pretty happy with them), and I already had a 40V and 80V batteries and chargers, so this was a good deal for me because I didn't have to pay for the battery and charger. I almost bought the one with the battery anyway because I thought that I'd need more run time and would want a spare battery, but I haven't come close to needing another one.

If you already have one of their 80V batteries, even the 2A one, I suggest getting this and not another battery to start to check if you'd want any more run time than you already get. Plus, if you already have one of those batteries, you know that they charge up pretty fast.

Overall, I highly (HIGHLY) recommend this blower. One of my best lawn care purchases ever.
