Ok product.

This product it's ok. I don't get as good of an image quality as I do with the other less expensive antenas sold in amazon.
I also didnt get channels consistently. One day I could watch an especific channel and the next day the antenna didn't pick it up. I had to stick this antenna out the window in order to get more channels. For the price I paid it's not worth the investment.

I've used othe antennas and they work better than this one. The image quality and amount of channels it accesed was better than this one.

I had to buy another antenna to see if I could get more channels... And I did.
Stronger signal, smaller footprint than other flat antennas

I've tried other flat antennas including the most popular ones available on Amazon. My TV allows me to see the strength of the signal in terms of a percentage. Even though this antenna has a smaller footprint it consistently got an equal if not stronger signal on all stations that it could lock on to that my previous best flat antenna
Bulky, but works better than most.

We get reasonable results, but only when placed at an outside wall. In all fairness, I have tried a half-dozen different antennas (antennae?). We go the "least unacceptable" results from this one and the Mohu Leaf. In the process we learned that there is no such thing as an omni-directional antenna. Most that were labeled as such had to be aimed within a few degrees of the signal source. This one has maybe a ten degree latitude or so. Fortunately, most of the broadcast signals are within that angle at our location. If signals are scattered around you, reception will be a challenge. You can find signal sources at tvfool.com , receptionmaps.com , and other sites.

The other lesson that we learned is that you don't have to pay a ridiculous price for a good antenna, but unless you can mount the antenna outside and point it directly at the signal sources, you'll want an amplifier.
I have not needed amplifiers to get a good signal to 2 televisions

This creature works very well if installed properly (clear line of sight, directed towards towers). I was able to repurpose my home's satellite cabling, and I attached the antenna to the mounting post of the defunct satellite dish. I have not needed amplifiers to get a good signal to 2 televisions. In my market, I get over 80 channels (most not worth watching). Some days, the antenna finds channels over 100 mi away.

The assembly and installation instructions need improvement. The included instructions are printed in too small a font, with tiny illustrations that don't show the necessary detail. I wasn't aware that the mounting post can only be used in a couple limited ways, because the instructions did not show photos of the installed post, and provided limited instructions or guidance on installing it. Calling the company for advice on how to use the post (or how to find a suitable replacement) wasn't very helpful. The un-usefulness of the post for my mounting situation nearly led to me returning the antenna.
Not all antennas are equal

No antenna picks up all signals from all directions. Each is designed for a very specific purpose and if you expect it to do something else you may be disappointed. Be aware that this, or a similar antenna, may not be enough to pick up all the stations you want.

This antenna, and I believe this applies to all flat HDTV antennas, is NOT omnidirectional. Online reviews often list them as omnidirectional but the manufacturers are much more careful in their descriptions. The antenna should be placed on an outside wall facing the TV towers you wish to pick up. The direction does not need to be exact, but turning the antenna 90 degrees will impact reception. In my case it reduced the number of channels I could pick up.

This style antenna is also designed for UHF reception. Most, but not all, HDTV stations are UHF. This antenna will pick up some VHF signals depending on their frequency and direction.

When setting up my antenna, all the major networks but one were broadcast on UHF from the east of my home. The other was broadcast on VHF from the south. No orientation of this antenna would pick up every station. I contacted Antennas Direct customer service and they responded quickly and helped figure out a solution. I needed to add a VHF antenna to my setup, and together with this antenna, they work perfectly. Customer service was great!

The web site tvfool.com can be used to show the location, frequency (UFH or VHF), and direction of channels at your address. Focus on the chart that lists the stations in descending order of signal strength to best understand what you will need from an antenna.
