I have a 9 year old son and accordingly a large cache of Legos. I avoided the Mega Bloks sets because they were underwealming, the blocks didn't fit the Lego blocks, and I was biased being a Lego fan as a child. Wow! Was I wrong: Mega Bloks decidedly stepped up to fill the void in the construction block industry that Lego intentionally ignored - lifelike, almost-to-scale, military aircraft, vehicles, soldiers, and fully customizable micro weapons. Each tiny weapon has 4 or more plug & play components (barrel, sights/scope, stock, magazine, etc) to make any weekend warrior drool. I cannot say enough about the R&D that was needed to achieve the detail and mechanics of the vehicles and most profoundly, the action figures. These 2" figures are slightly meatier than traditional 2" toy soldiers, but are more customizable, posable, detailed and impressively lifelike in design and appearance than the much larger GI Joe or Star Wars figures. Each figure in very lifelike fashion can be easily posed to look down the sights of an M4 at the ready or lay in the prone behind a Barrett while carrying a customized combat load. Also, Mega Bloks offers a set of 20+ soldiers for around $40. Everyone knows how difficult it is to get even 2 or 3 of the competitors figures in a sets priced twice as much. Here's the cherry- a few weeks ago, the last set I purchased for my son had an action figure with two left legs- literally. I gave it a shot and contacted mega Bloks on the Mattel website to see what my options were. That was on a Wednesday. We left for a 5 day trip to Austin that afternoon. We returned on Monday evening, and in the mail box was the replacement action figure. I kid you not. 5 days. 5 days! I've never been more impressed with any product or the company that manufactures it. Great job Mega Bloks!

My biggest issue with this set is the legs on the guys would not fit on. Given this is a big part of the set this is a major issue. There were also a few pieces that didn't fit together very well. The top of the vehicle doesn't fit on very well. I've purchase a few other Mega Blocks Call of Duty sets, and this is the first one that I've had these issues with.

Other than those complaints this is a really nice set. This was a very fun build, and with over 900 pieces it will take a while to complete it. The vehicle itself has a lot of detail to it. Because of this, it probably isn't best for younger kids. It is better suited for kids with more experience and patience. There are a lot of moving pieces to this vehicle, which makes it fun for a kid to play with it. The top comes completely off so you can see the inside of the vehicle. There is a door on the side that opens, two flaps on the front, and a flap on the back. The gun on top spins completely around. There are a lot of clips on the sides and inside that hold spare parts. The seats have a clip which hooks to the back of the men so they can stay in place during play.

This is a great set. I'm 32 and bought it on a whim. Never tried mega bloks before, but I've enjoyed Legos since I was young and have been regularly buying Lego sets up until this year. I have now purchased 3 additional different Mega Bloks CoD sets. These look great on display in my man cave. I can't wait to be able to buy more!

This set took brick building to a whole new level for me. The detail is incredible! My wife noticed that the price-per-piece is considerably less than Lego sets (50%- or more!), AND it really took some time to put together. She was pretty surprised how long I was occupied, as I normally fly through Lego sets. The entertainment value over-all for me was much greater with this set than most Lego sets I have purchased. This is honestly true for the other mega bloks sets I have purchased since this one as well. I'm super into them. Not even thinking about another Lego set unless something great comes along. And I was a die hard strictly Lego only guy until a month ago. For real.

The look and feel of these sets are top notch. The end products aren't huge, but they are scaled extremely well with the figures (which also rock by the way). We're talking scale model quality. Special bricks are printed on, so there's no stickers to apply. Mega Bloks really put forth some extra time and money doing it right. Seriously they are hitting the details. Above and beyond. Real rubber tires, hidden details that only the builder will recognize, interesting build angles and techniques.

A common complaint about mega bloks is that the instructions aren't synced up with numbered bags of parts. That's all very true, so you should expect it. I THINK THAT'S AWESOME!. There won't be any flying through this build. It makes you take your time and enjoy what you spent your money on. IMO your best bet is to set up at a larger table and pre-sort most of the bags, and I kept the bags with really little bits in soup bowls so I could rummage around without losing anything. Totally worth every bit of time invested.

Other common complaints worth noting-
The green camo/vs grey bricks are difficult to tell apart side by side. Seriously. Sometimes the instructions are difficult because of this. Am I looking for a grey/black or dark green brick? This makes pre-sorting bricks crucial IMO. Bags usually don't have grey and camo and black pieces mixed together, so I literally had only grey pieces on one side of the table, green camo on the other. The few black pieces are usually unique and easily identifiable. It made it a lot easier on my eyes, and sped the process up to a nice pace.

I've read a handful of complaints about missing pieces- I've got 4 sets now, and there was 1 missing piece. Fortunately all sets usually have a spare piece or two and one of them matched the piece I was missing.

The green humvee set is also the bomb.

Hope this helps any people wondering if they should give the mega bloks a spin. I'm super glad I did! You can buy 3 sets for the price of one Lego, and spend 10x the amount of time building them.

Well, when I first glanced upon this set the first thing I saw was the totally beast armored vehicle!!! That was the main reason for buying it (For me, at least) I shall now give you a brief run-down of this set.

PROS:
As advertised, one of the micro-action figures you will receive is SOAP!!! Plus the other two guys are just as beast! The armored vehicle is totally worth it! The features include: Two opening doors, one on the right, and one on the left.
Easy access to the engine, as well as the little motor in the back (Which implies it is also a water craft) A turret, with a 360 degree turn ability. An adorable little barbed-wire fence thingy with an unnecessary little barrel (For the guys trash.....I guess?)

And now the CONS!!!!! SO EVIL!!!:
The lid to access the inside of the tank is hard to lift without breaking something, what I usually do is just take off the window part of the front of the tank and just lift there.

That's it! all in all..............WORTH IT.

Wow! I have said many many bad things about Megabloks over the years. Poor brick quality. Poor set QC. Malformed bricks. Missing critical parts. But with their Call of Duty line they seemingly turned everything around. Part quality is near Lego. Complex detailed builds. Incredible little mini GI Joe type mini figures.

And the latest waves of releases just up the standards from there. The Combat Vehicle Attack set is a heavily detailed brick built model of a Russian BTR-80 Armored Combat vehicle. It is gorgeous. Not simply a toy but a wonderful display model. The build is deep and complex. Bordering on Lego's UCS or Megabloks Signature series complexity. Just fun and rewarding in every way.

Be warned this set is meant for an older child or an adult. 11-12+. The build is complex. There are tons of tiny minutely different parts all the same color.
